I think Willie Brown best used Harris's talents. Ever since then she has demonstrated that the Peter Principle (no pun intended - referring to Lawrence Peter's management principle) does not always apply. She is several levels past her level of incompetence.

So your stance on this is that it's Trump's fault? Is this correct?

Well we do have a certain history of our CIA overthrowing governments. Sort of like we saw used against Trump.

So, what should we do? Half of illegals came through the front door and overstayed a visa. Some of them worked in Trump's private suite at his golf club.

We'll see what Joe says he wants to do with illegal immigration, perhaps in the context of doing something about immigration, period. My guess is I won't like what he proposes or how Republicans, led still by the Orange Demagogue, respond.

Unless and until we can stop employers from hiring illegals, we probably won't be able to get control of the situation. We can debate the rest as long as we have the capability of setting and enforcing limits on the availability of paid work here. Right now, we do not have that capability.

If we get that capability, and I've suggested one way to get there they know about already, we will be within striking distance of a solution, and one practiced by other countries in going about their business.

The shutoff valve for illegal immigration is in the same place it has been since California, Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico all became states. Trump didn't move the shutoff valve in the slightest.

Yeah. Illegal employment has been kicked down the road so long it is built into our market. Could be part of why Trump didn't want to touch it with a ten foot pole because it would have negatively impacted the economy.

    This is probably another reason.

"It works like this: Many immigrants who aren’t authorized to work in the United States buy fake Social Security cards and present them to their employers, who either don’t know they are fake or don’t look too closely. When the employer submits a W-2 form and a tax payment on those workers’ behalf to the Social Security Administration, the federal government holds onto those payroll taxes, even if the Social Security number isn’t linked to anyone on file. And then, a large chunk of that money ends up in the Social Security trust funds, from which retirement benefits are doled out to aging Americans."

"The Social Security system has grown increasingly reliant on this stream of revenue, particularly as aging Baby Boomers start to retire."

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theatlantic.com/amp/article/499604/

This issue is incredibly complex and I don't really get how so many people believe the solution is to simply "build a wall". Besides the fact that about half of the illegals we have came here came legally and overstayed their visas; a wall won't stop someone who knows he can get work in America anyhow.

We've had our snout in Central America all along, to this day.
The idiotic "war on drugs" is definitely part of it these days. But there's more.

Part of the immigration solution could be helping those countries to keep their people, but we need to be ready to send them back.

If they have relatives here? No matter. There are a lot of Americans who would love to sponsor relatives, so why shouldn't they have priority?

Why shouldn't they want to fix the problem? The idea Biden is the cause of the problem is nonsense and won't sell. That said, Biden will increasingly own the problem if he doesn't come up with answers.

Trump lost because he screwed up on covid. That cooked his goose.

He was fifteen points underwater on the number one issue.

    Bye-bye.

I've never understood why we don't stick them on a ship and send them back to their countries. It would be much less expensive. And Mexicans get sent back to Mexico at the Guatemala border so they don't come back tomorrow.

Hahaha! Smooth move by Biden assigning the dirty work to his helper. Biden is so senile I bet he thinks Harris is his maid.

The main thing is sending them back as humanely as possible, but back they must go.

Well Trump and his followers claimed the wall worked, yet we still have an issue.

FYI, for the 1k time, we need to work with Mexico on preventing the large migration. Otherwise it will never stop.

It's comical y'all act like Biden and Harris didn't run for two years declaring they would open the borders and let illegals pour in Biden saying we could take in 2,000,000 a year. It's comical you ignore the immigrants themselves clearly stating they are here because of Biden and Harris.

His is a racist and he did screw up covid.

    C70388A9-D1B5-44F0-AE42-A7F002DFA981.jpeg

    USA - 1,680 covid deaths / 1,000,000
    Canada - 599 covid deaths / 1,000,000
    British Columbia - 280 covid deaths / 1,000,000

Six times as many deaths as BC from covid. BC ... no lockdown, masks required indoors only recently, schools running since September, bars open, restaurants open, stores open.

Can you direct quote where Biden said he would open the border?

Some of them have been at the border from before the election. They may have more hope because Biden got in, but they were already there.

We'll see what Biden does. He has to keep tabs on them if he's going to give them a hearing because most will have to go back, including most of the children.

What if the children have family members here who will sponsor them? Why are more deserving than family members of other Americans? How many people are we intending come here?

We need to get control of who can get paid work here. If we don't control that, we're fiddling with the problem.

    Time to govern, Joe.
