And the comedy gold mine continues with at least one member saying she's gonna show up to the meeting Rachel cancelled. I mean hey, maybe Rachel cancelled that meeting for a reason - I heard she said Bruce Jenner sent her death threats!

Shes no different than elizabeth warren, claiming shes an American Indian....

I predict progressives will attempt to vindicate her by claiming shes black on the inside, just like transgenders.

first of all I have never seen her dna test to say if she has no black in her, most of us do..... but I see no issue if she wants to dress and look this way, looking black is not a crime

Well, we celebrate all of these other mental affections so may as well celebrate people who are white and think they are black. Next we can celebrate blacks that paint their faces white and claim they are white.

It is if it is part of a fraud you are committing. And just do a search to see people who have been highly criticized and disdained for putting on their blackfaces, Ted Danson ring a bell?

    - - - Updated - - -

What is dumb about, in my mind I am 66 years old, should be able to declare myself as such and should be treated as such. This is just another discriminatory barrier, gender, then race and now age.

you have not lived on this earth for 66 years, that is the requirement, regardless of how old you feel

do you think it should be a crime for an old person to dye their hair and act like a younger person?

I don't have the DNA of a woman either but I can declare myself one and expect to be treated as such and even get rights to do so. Now we can also declare our race too so why not age?

Depends if they commit a fraud in the process. Do you think it should be a crime for someone to fill out official documents and declare themselves one race when in fact they are another? One gender when in fact they are another? Go into the women's dressing room when in fact they are a man?

Perhaps it deals with the degree of the crime. Did Dolezal break any existing laws? Was she asked for documentation like you would be with the social security office? Was it fraud she committed? What law did she actually break? Does Washington State have a law on its books that states one can't say they are black if they are not?

Perhaps one should look at the latest census report she sent in. If she lied on it, that may actually be breaking the law, a federal law. But I highly doubt anyone would try to prosecute her even if she did. People portray themselves all the time as something they are not. Usually it is in a harmless way. What Dolezal did was wrong, perhaps it even helped her gain the position she now holds. We really do not know.

We can have and hold a court of public opinion. But legally that court means nothing unless it is transferred to the voting booth. Which in this case we do not have a vote. All the ballots are held by the Spokane Chapter. I am not upset about it, it is more of a funny, ha, ha type of thing to me. The Spokane Chapter got the wool pulled over its eyes. It was a good laugh. But it is not something to get outraged about.

I really do not care what the NAACP does in this case, although I would like to know. I really do not care what goes on in Washington State, I do not live there. This was good for a chuckle, time to move on.

again I have not seen her dna testing results, most of us have some black in us, she check both white and black on her forms, so we will have to see how that plays out in court

This is not exactly the same as the Transgender issue, yet it is close enough for comparison.

Personally, I see no reason why this woman can't identify herself as "black". We are really discussing minute differences in biology. It is also quite possible that she has "African" based haplogroups somewhere in her genetic history. I don't mean somewhere ancient either, I mean relatively new. At least it is plausible.

I mean, what is the standard of cutoff? If you had a 'black" great grandfather, but you look "white", you still have that in your history.

Is it completely based on skin tone then? Does it have nothing to do with anything else? Then how does that effect very light skinned "blacks":? At what point does skin tone turn from "white" to "black"?

Are Sri Lankan's and dark skinned Indians considered "black"? No. But they have darker skin tone than many "blacks".

Black is used as a description of someone of "Sub-Saharan" African decent, not just African Decent. Perhaps West African also, but not necessarily North African.

Many, many Egyptians will not identify themselves as African American even though they are absolutely African American. They will in large part consider themselves "Middle Eastern".

So we all ready have many discrepancies when it comes to racial identity.

I see no reason she should lose her position. Was she misrepresenting herself or does she actually feel "black"? Does she get discriminated against? Has she in the past been mistaken for a light skinned "black" person?

    Further, does that matter?

Further, why is "white privilege" a part of this issue.

Why is "white privilege" assumed for all "white" people? It is of course a social construct, but it only matters in a "white" world. So a white person, living in a "black" community, would not necessarily experience "white privilege". Further, many "white" groups still face discrimination ie.. Jews, homosexuals, in certain places the Irish, in Serbia the Albanians and Croatians, in Ukraine the Ukrainians by the Russians etc.....

I understand the idea of White Privilege. But I absolutely know it's not as prevalent in this day and age as it was 50 to 100 years ago and prior. Further, it can be argued that a good majority of "white" people gain very little in 2015 from said privilege.

What am saying is that the term and the concept is becoming archaic and only relevant in certain locations and in certain circles. It is NOT universal even within the boundaries of the United States.

I don't mean to say there isn't an issue in most places either. There obviously is a difference in arrest statistics for instance and prison statistics .

But what if, police departments started to become mostly non-white? Are there places where police departments are becoming more equal? In a place like that, White privilege would not be in effect theoretically.

This woman probably did more good for "black" society than most people. If nothing else she should be appreciated for her work. Even if her personal choice is questionable. It's being used to positive means. Is it that offensive that she claims to be black even though she is doing obviously positive work?

Is not that a way in which to alienate people? Criticizing and abusing a person for doing good in the world?

My mother was adopted. In reality, I do not know what I am or what people I come from. I look white so it is assumed I am white and my background is white. But that is not necessarily wholly true. Therefore I always identify as "other". I also have some Jewish ancestors, in which case it can be assumed I have some middle eastern genetic history. Also many Jews have similar subsaharan - African haplogroups in their DNA.

This is wholly an egoist battle.

LOL, oh boy. Whether she did or didn't say what you just said she did, how does that effect you? If any harm was done it was done to the Spokane Chapter of the NAACP. No one else. She is not an elected official, she is not accountable to us. She is only accountable to her parents and the Spokane Chapter in this case. She is fully grown, so the accountability to her parents is probably no more than emotional to them.

Did she actually perpetrate a fraud? Posing as someone she wasn't, maybe morally she did. But did she break any existing laws? Not that I know of, but that is up to the state of Washington to decide. But I am sure everything involving this case will be left up to the Spokane Chapter as to how it is dealt with.

Like I posted earlier, this is more a funny, ha, ha, type of incident than anything serious. It is ha, ha, chuckle, chuckle, boy Spokane NAACP Chapter did the wool ever get pulled over your eyes.

There are no similarities between "Blackface" and what this woman did. Blackface was used to exaggerate the features of a black person in order to mock and stereotype them for the benefit of primarily entertaining white theater goers. This woman did nothing like this.

She no doubt felt that her chances of advancing her career would be enhanced by pretending to be a black woman. Do you think Dennis Hastert would have risen to the highest position in the GOP had he run as a homosexual pederast? In politics, you got to do what you got to do. No big deal here.

Hastert is long gone and this nation is probably better off that he is. As for this gal, I will let the Spokane Chapter deal with her if they so choose to do so. Whichever why they go, you're right, it is no big deal. I do think it is more than just advancing her career. Perhaps living with 4 black brothers and sisters made her want to be more like them. I don't know that, just a SWAG on my part.

But is is amazing at the amount of outrage towards her, myself, I got a chuckle out of it. A someone pulled the wool over the NAACP's eyes type chuckle.

I always take delight when this kind of stuff comes to light. Let's face it, it is pretty damn funny. Politicians are mainly whores in disguise living lies. What is important is that comedians now have another endless source of material to feed on. Laughter is truly the best medicine. I hope that the steamy Jeff Gannon, GW Bush Oval Office shenanigans will soon come to light, or Obama and his fling with Larry Sinclair. These revelations can only strengthen America in my book.

I would say its actually very much a positive regardless. As I said, "pretending" to be black or "identifying" with being black or whatever she is doing or did AND putting it to use for the NAACP probably did MORE good than bad.

How are people criticizing her for working for the NAACP and putting her identification to a positive use I have no idea.

Why do you assume that's what she did? What if she was being genuine in her identification?

She had 2 black step brothers I believe, or adopted brothers and became the legal guardian of one of them from what I understand, or perhaps she just takes care of one of them consistently, of this I was unclear.

What if she genuinely identifies with the "black": identity and did this not out of some career aspirations but because she truly feels this way?

That's what people are missing here. They assume they she did this to take advantage of something when the actual facts of the situation seem quite different.

Call her crazy or whatever, but she was being genuine in her "fib" or whatever you want to call it. Maybe she really just believes it herself.

Either way, it's pretty funny. Reminds me of the Notre Dame linebacker Mantei Teo who drummed up a bunch of sympathy because his imaginary girlfriend died and revved up the crowd to win one more for the old Gipper.

If I lie on an employment application I can be charged with a fraud, if as reported I get a race based admittance to a college based on a fraud I can be charged with fraud.

How about the degree of unethical behavior?

    She very well may have.

Ahh the everyone does it excuse.

And perhaps they have a lawsuit in the making.

Wrong, fraud and misrepresentations are not laughing matters and yes we should be outraged when someone does so.

No one has forced you here.

I think her parents answered that question and the fact that she had to adopt a disguise speaks for itself.

So if I am applying for a college grant and check that I am black when I have no reason to believe I am black, my parents and grand parents were white Europeans is that OK? I mean Melissa Hart-Perry on MSNBC was saying today that yes if you feel black then your are black, you can be whatever YOU decide you are.

Well if that is the case and if this woman is to be excuse and accepted as black then why do you we even have check boxes anymore or racial set asides or race based networks, organizations, pageants, awards and on and on?

    Moot, she is not.

How does that change your race?

How does "feeling black" differ from "feeling white", are you saying there are differences between the races other than outward appearance and we can now acknowledge those differences?

Or gain acceptance or empathy or yes her employment position. It is still a fraud.

If I believe I am Obama does that make me so?
