Bush comes to mind here but, I guess you didn't mean him?

What did the right gain from all of this though? Maybe I missed something.

I've seen a significant amount of coverage of Palin that doesn't portray her in a positive way... None of which had anything to do with the way she looked or was dressed. Generally, all she has to do is open her mouth to get negative press because of the verbal diarrhea that tends to spill from it... Similar to Ted.

That's the irony. If the berserkers had not defied their leadership, suspended public services, and incurred the wrath of the public, the business community, and assorted Republican politicians and pundits, the implementation of the 2010 law they were in such a tizzy over would have incurred delays anyway.

Their befouling themselves was all for naught.

    What a hoot!

Meanwhile, public support for the Affordable Care Act remains pretty much unchanged, and GOP politicians still have not offered any alternative to nationalized WillardCare.

His running mate could be the guy who says he knows that 99% of the people coming over the border are murderers who want to rape our daughters because he goes down to Texas and hides in the bushes and watches them.

The Obamacare scandal continues - remember Obama's promise, repeated scores of times, that if you liked your old healthcare plan you could keep it? Well, that's true, but only if you're a member of one of the big unions that slip millions to Democrats. The ACA says plans that existed prior to the act's passage are grandfathered - they can be kept, just as Obama said. But there's fine print. They can be kept only if they go unchanged in any way. But the act has a long list of requirements that all plans must meet. Few existing plans meet all those requirements, so most existing plans must be changed, making them ineligible to be grandfathered. The one exception granted by the act is plans arrived at by collective bargaining - union plans. So most of those who believed Obama when he said they could keep their plans, and maybe pay less for them, are being screwed. Their plans are being dropped, and the policies on the exchanges cost much more. But not for everyone. Big bucks unions that grease the palms of Democrats are exempt. Oh, and Sebelius is on TV telling everyone it's the insurance companies that are dropping people! She's just not mentioning that the insurance companies are forced to do that to comply with the ACA.

Those Democrats sure are cute, aren't they? They lie and lie about their lies and lie about their lies about their lies, with President Barack Obama leading. The trouble is that millions of voters will soon know they've been lied to by Democrats. The middle class is about to get massacred and know that their demise is by Democrats' hands. Democrats' gamble is that by buying off the unions they'll divide and conquer the middle class. That's not just wrong. It's evil.

Indeed, he never told folks with crappy coverage that a decent minimum standard would be established, some paying more, some less, some about the same.

    Shame on him.

It is the hate-driven who are most alienated from America that pretend the first non-white guy American president must be an alien.

    Ironic.

Shame on him indeed. You said it in one clear sentence. The President, renowned as an orator, couldn't say it in scores of lengthy speeches? He was deliberately lying to sell his bill to a public he rightly feared would reject it if he told the truth about it.

Not only that, but if the election were held next Tuesday instead of a year ago? Think the shellacking he'd take.

Only a person of no principle could applaud such a pathetic situation.

    LOL....Birthers.

    - - - Updated - - -

But the election was held in 2013, and Romney was the one who took the shellacking.

You can disagree with him regarding ACA.

But Birthers lie about his eligibility. And that is something completely different.

Take of the distorted lens, funny dog. Progressive Democracy is winning. The American people are winning. The Koch Brothers/ Glenn Beck/ Corporate Plutocracy has failed. Its over for the GOP, as far as the popular vote. They have managed to alienate and offend the following groups of people:

    1. American Women (and possibly all free women, worldwide)
    2. African Americans
    3. Latino/Hispanic Americans
    4 Low income Americans
    5. Working class Americans
    6. All non evangelical zealot religious Americans
    7. Atheist Americans
    8. Secularist Americans
    9. Philosophical Americans
    10. Pragmatic Americans
    11. All Democrat Americans
    12. Poor Americans
    13. Disabled Americans
    14. Elderly Americans on SS and Medicare
    15. Military Veterans who had benefits cut by GOP governors
    16. Small Business owners, who lost business to GOP Corporate cronies
    17. Government working Americans
    18. Americans unable to afford Health care insurance
    19. Americans denied Health care insurance because of pre existing conditions.
    20. Americans ripped off by unethical health care insurance providers canceling their policy.

The inveterate Obama bellywhingers will shriek "Liar!", of course, and his more thoughtful critics will point to the inaccuracy of his assertion. The fact is that some plans on the individual market that fail to meet minimum standards do not qualify for the Affordable Care Act, but it's important that the law's provisions be implemented as soon as possible. Delay will only drive up the cost, and that's the truth:

You seem to be confusing the fact that whilst people are unhappy with the Democrats they sing from the modern songbook. A growing number of the American populace seem to think the Republican party has now been taken over by the dying breed TEA loons who hate modern America (as well as the usual conclave of religious anti gay zealots and immigrant haters and people who believe freedom from Government is "libertarian"). The Republican Establishment has always needed these groups to be elected due to their hatred and bigotry of those who are different and not WASPS but I suspect many now hold these "lower orders" in contempt.

And the lies get wider and deeper. It's come out that the Obama Administration made a 2010 projection that 93 million people would likely lose their coverage. The proof? The Administration itself published this in the Federal Register. For those unfamiliar, the Federal government publishes a book each month - the Federal Register - which is a list of all the government's actions for the past month. It typically runs tens of thousands of pages. The point is that this is the government's official record. So we have proof that Obama and other Democrats have deliberately lied since at least 2010 in order to fool the people and win elections. Does anyone think Obama would have been re-elected if voters knew he planned to take away their insurance and had lied about it?

The "minimum standards" argument implies that millions of policies were just awful and Obama is helping people by doing away with them. But most of these "standards" have to do with covering things many people may not need or want - substance abuse and mental health, maternity care for single men, etc. If the new coverage is so much better, why were millions of people so eager to hold on to the old? Democrats think they're just stupid, though they would never say so in public. I think that most people know what sort of coverage they need, but that they're being forced to pay for a grab bag of things they don't. The trouble is implied by the word "standard." That means one size fits all. But it doesn't. People have needs determined by their situation. "Standards" ignore the variety of individual need.

I clicked on the link you provided and got "page not found." That must be the page where Obamacare's benefits are listed. But let's assume the CBO wrote what you show. Their statement is obviously true if Obamacare is implemented. To keep rates low, Obamacare depends on a very large risk pool, especially a risk pool with many young healthy people who'll pay without claiming benefits. The only way this huge risk pool can be created is if people are forced into it by the "individual mandate." Otherwise, most young healthy people would not buy, as they haven't bought in the past. (A large part of the uninsured are young healthy people who feel they don't need insurance.) But if Obamacare is not implemented, if the current system survives, there would be no reason for rates to rise. So this is another sly and slippery statement from Democrats. Obamacare creates a problem - keeping rates down without buy-in by millions of young healthy people - and then Obamacare is said to be the only solution to the problem. But without Obamacare, the problem wouldn't exist.

    Natty -
President Obama is a liar. On this Board, let us speak the truth.
Yes Obama talks a great talk, but his solutions are just more of the same "Trickle Down economics".
YOU do realize his major donations for his first nomination came from Wall St. !
The Obama I voted for in '08 would have dialoged with "Occupy", not ignore them and pass laws & programs to outlaw future "Peaceful Assembly".
WHERE does the Buck Stop in the Obama administration, with persons we never heard of !
Benghazi, ObamaCare, Illegal Foreclosures with no justice - just $2,000 for YOUR home - thank you.
The Middle Middle losing economic ground where President Carter states they are indistinguishable from the "poor" of his time.

I acknowledge it is a major disgrace not to  the first Black president.
But, I am sensitive to being lied to and Obama is a liar !
ObamaCare is as Regressive a National Health Care plan as could be dreamed up to cover the
15% of Americans with no medical insurance at the cost of the 85% who have medical insurance.

Natty, I am a recovered Liberal, if any Liberal can truly be recovered.
As a Populist/Progressive I believe the job of government is to protect people from the economically elite.
The Democratic Party is today the bigger liar. Since the Anti-New Dealer, JFK - the progressive politics of the Party has been sold out . The Liberal programs paid for at the expense of the Middle Middle.
Now we have no Middle Middle.
Natty, if you seek help with being an addicted Liberal, PM me. I can help

    Moi :oldman:

Obama is a liar as certainly as King George of Revolutionary War times was a tyrant.
