https://www.politico.com/news/2020/...nterfered-with-cdc-reports-on-covid-19-412809 White House officials have been pressuring the CDC to massage their output to politically help Trump No wonder the CDC has seemed so odd and inept
Which accounts for the misleading "8,000 deaths" announcement from the CDC and numerous other dubious and confusing statements and actions
The CDC is part of HHS....so it would be strange they didn't share reports but let's fact it...this article boils down to this one paragraph: "CDC officials have fought back against the most sweeping changes, but have increasingly agreed to allow the political officials to review the reports and, in a few cases, compromised on the wording, according to three people familiar with the exchanges." Wow...they compromised on the wording in a few cases....
You think that how CDC reports are worded doesn't matter? You think wording reports based on politics when they should be based on best practices and science is no big deal???
Robert Ray Redfield Jr. (born 1951) is an American virologist. He is the current Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the current Administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, having served in both positions since March 2018. He was the handpicked and highly controversial Trump appointee
CDC, FDA, and NIH have been the gold star scientific institutes that scientists around the world have looked to for expertise and guidance. NIH has remained steadfast but because Redfield and Hahn are political appointees and are weak they have placed CDC and FDA in a quagmire. The career men and women who work in these Agencies are passionate about their missions and it pains me that their work has been compromised because of weak political appointees. Hahn has received huge backlash within the FDA and his Center directors have penned a piece to the public vowing that they will not be pressured to approve an unsafe product.
It depends....but clearly the CDC was willing to compromise. and how do you know it was based on politics? but then again...isn't everything politics? What CDC report are you taking issues with?
That didn't used to be the case. Hell of a time for it to change Based on Trump's appointment of Redfield. Based on e-mails from the WH To YOU folks. To sane people science is science...most especially during something so serious that 200,000 people die
1) really? Can you show me this 2) Oh the Doctor is corrupt now...the guy that's been in Govt since 1977....is now corrupt...hahah you all just won't accept the experts 3) haha, science isn't science to the left..obviously, as your post just highlighted....science is corrupt if you don't like the Doc's. Can you please point out what report..what wording....what is it that you have issue with? Dr Fauci says, Trump didn't distort anything that he was adviced......
Redfield was a "controversial pick" from the beginning. It was a POLITICAL choice and he has shown his incompetence. As far as showing you anything...you have proven that to be pointless. You get virtually nothing correct. Facts mean nothing to you
And clearly what Trump was saying in his afternoon pressers and what Fauci was saying were at odds. And from the Woodward books and the TAPES accompanying it...we know that Trump understood that what he was telling America was lies.
what was controversial about it? What was political about it? and what incompetence did he show? Nevermind...you won't show me anything....what did I say that was incorrect? oh nevermind...you won't show it... hahhaha
"I didn't see any discrepancies between what he told us and what we told him and what he ultimately came out publicly and said," Fauci, the country's top infectious diseases expert and head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said. https://thehill.com/policy/healthca...rump-did-not-distort-impact-of-covid-pandemic
Details are here: https://www.yahoo.com/gma/trump-officials-interfered-cdc-reports-232114037.html Down dirty shame. The Trump administration's repeated attempts to downplay the pandemic is the main reason why he lost my vote.
You know, Fauci can't publicly say much against Trump or he will lose his job, and he does want to keep it as he sees it as a mission. I'm not a fan of how Fauci is willing to tell white lies (such as the "masks don't protect the wearer" fiasco) but if you look at a less public display, when Fauci recently delivered Grand Rounds at Harvard Medical School (Grand Hounds are the keynote monthly addresses a prominent faculty member internal or external or scientist delivers to major departments in a medical school), he was decisively critical of the Trump administration in various ways. Is this good, like having two faces, one for public consumption and one for the more private scientific environments? No. I'd prefer to see a more consistent, transparent and more truthful Fauci but I guess, to survive in his position over so many different administrations and so many decades, one needs to step on eggs and pick his battles.
that link is a summary of the OP...which reflects this and doesn't change this point: "The CDC is part of HHS....so it would be strange they didn't share reports but let's fact it...this article boils down to this one paragraph: "CDC officials have fought back against the most sweeping changes, but have increasingly agreed to allow the political officials to review the reports and, in a few cases, compromised on the wording, according to three people familiar with the exchanges." Wow...they compromised on the wording in a few cases...."
oh yeah...that old theory...a 79 year old man that has had this job since the early 80s....has decided to lie for this President because he is so concerned about keeping his job....get real.
Thanks for the link. So, what sticks out to me is when the conversation took place, last Spring, approximately 6 months ago. Dr. Fauci and others briefed the President on what they knew and what the science showed at that time. The scientific data has changed since then. More importantly, Dr. Fauci and others were not on the phone with the President during his conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Your argument is that the President parroted Dr. Fauci's talking points. That's a moot point because it doesn't matter what Fauci advised him but rather what the President learned from the Chinese. That it was airborne and very deadly. The question is, would Dr. Fauci have briefed the President with the same information had he known what the President knew from Xi Jinping. Being familiar with Dr. Fauci's work I don't think he would have.
How do you know the Dr wasn't on the phone? How do you know the Doc didn't know? Also the virus isn't airboure https://www.webmd.com/lung/qa/is-the-coronavirus-airborne I agree with your conclusion...I don't think Dr. Fauci is lying here...and let's be clear...you are right the science has changed....the President made this comment in early Feb, before the first case was in the USA....Dr. Fauci said the President hasn't distorted anything...just last week...so what the Doc is saying...is that over the entire pandemic the President has told the public what he was told
I have to agree with you...that was totally untrue...and still remains untrue While the President has made the United States the leading nation of test....far more then any other nation....not everyone that wants one can get one....for example...I am perfectly fine today...my doctor won't give me a test even if I want one, because I am 1and fine...it's not necessary and a waste of time and money With that said, we can only compare what biden would do...and we know from historical fact, that Biden would simply stop testing during a pandemic, like he did with the estimated 60 million Ameicans were infected with H1N1
Well I would be surprised if Dr. Fauci had been on the phone since there was no public announcement about a virus yet. The team wasn't put together until March/April and the President's conversation with Xi Jinping happened in February. Hmmm......you have me stumped with the webmd link. It's possible Dr. Whyte isn't going to put it on the website until there is more data to point to.
