I am not fond of CA Democrats. I never fight for those I am not fond of. But it would have to be Trump that invades us. I would not fight him either.

 

For me, that would depend on what I think of the Constitutionality of my orders and the actions of my state and the Federal government. My oath was to defend and protect the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic.

This issue(among others) is what makes secession so difficult. It makes it hard for military leaders to trust their troops because they can never be sure where their loyalty lies in a domestic conflict. We have over 200,000 Texans in the US military. I am no longer in the military, but my son is. I have no idea what he would do if the feds were to go to war with my state? It wouldn't be in his best interests for me to even guess on line.

 

So, if Trump sends the Army to invade your state, you swore an allegiance and would fight in his Army?

I'm a Son of the American Revolution. I had two ancestors who were actual three percenters - they took up arms and fought the British. My family fought in the Texas Revolution and for the Union during the Civil War. Secessionists are traitors, and should be treated as such. Those with masturbatory fantasies about 'revolution' should realize there are a lot more us of who feel that way than them. Country before ideology or party, always.

Yes, your response most certainly is. There is no family exemption in the military oath of service. If you're active military, and your family is engaged in an insurrection against the Constitutional government of the United States, you would be expected to fire on them if ordered to. If you can't do that, don't take the oath, because the military would be morally and legally justified in executing you for your refusal.
