You may be interested to hear that only 10% of NPR funding comes from the federal government. So, it is rather listener-sustained. You should actually try listening to them. It's rather refreshing. Interviews are fair and not like the typical Fox news cra* of making the interviewer look good, which is of course copied by all other for-profit media.

The move toward selling news as an entertainment product goes all the way back to the 1970's.

That's when consultants discovered that they could merchandise local television news, which is local television's most profitable product.

The cynical techniques they pioneered in that amateurish format eventually carried over to the networks (along with many of the personalities).

Once up a time, news was presented by people with long careers in real journalism. Now it's presented by bubble headed bleach blondes and public relations men.

There isn't an expectation of straight news from a youtube video. Conservatives have no problem with the profit motive, but they do have a problem with CNN being unabashedly leftist while PRETENDING to be straight news. Conservatives have been saying this for years, and the same principle applies to network news. CNN can turn into the National Enquirer if they so desire, but stunts like this one are the perfect opportunity to illustrate what Conservatives have been saying for years, which is that CNN is NOT straight news.

One benefit of Trump being president is that the fallacy that most of these news outlets are non biased has been blown out of the water. Ardent politicos have known this for decades, but it is now plain to see for almost everyone.

The thing is, FAW is absolutely correct and I can't be sure if you're being obtuse or not. LET CNN be as liberal as they want to be; it's not as if anyone with half a brain doesn't know they lean that way already. Their problem is that they continue promoting the illusion that they're totally dedicated to the unbiased truth when they've been caught on video manufacturing news that fits their own schema.

It might not be political bias as much as it is intellectual bias. You see most in the news industry have college degrees, thus are better educated and more intelligent than your average Joe.
