If there is a line of cops in riot gear shoulder to shoulder and they are all facing you, you are on the wrong side of the F’n line. I would like to see a couple of minutes of video before what went down. My guess is the reporter was told to move and didn’t. Cops in riot gear aren’t dressed up to arrest news crews, unless they are causing a problem, like ignoring what was being said over the P.A.
Really? Really? https://www.cnn.com/videos/us/2020/...-analysis-berman-josh-campbell-newday-vpx.cnn Is that the best excuse you can come up with?
The officer who said "you are under arrest" needs to be questioned first. If he can't identify who gave the order, fire him.
The man child mayor of Minneapolis gave the order for the police to deescalate and avoid arresting anyone. That sent the signal that is can be a free for all. Now..................
I don’t need a do-over. I can clearly see the reporter in front of the police line. If you don’t recognize that as the no-go zone, I don’t know what to tell you.
What type of thing? Reporters get hassled and arrested by cops ALL the time. Mike Wallace even - in New York City. Gigantic Nothing Burger with a side of Partisan Grievance Baiting Fries.
The state police said they released the reporters once they verified who they were. Everyone knows that is a lie.
He refused / ignored a lawful order from police to move, and was arrested subsequent to that refusal. There's no carve out for leftist media in the law. Here is the statute under which he was arrested: https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/12.34 12.34 ASSISTANCE REQUIRED; COMPENSATION FOR PROPERTY TAKEN; PENALTY. § Subdivision 1.Emergency powers. When necessary to save life, property, or the environment during a national security emergency or during a peacetime emergency, the governor, the state director, or a member of a class of members of a state or local emergency management organization designated by the governor, may: (1) require any person, except members of the federal or state military forces and officers of the state or a political subdivision, to perform services for emergency management purposes as directed by any of the persons described above; and ... Subd. 3.Penalty. An able-bodied person required to perform services for emergency management who refuses, neglects, or otherwise fails to perform the services required under subdivision 1 is guilty of a misdemeanor and must be punished by imprisonment in the county jail for not less than ten days or more than 90 days. I hope they make him serve time.
But it's like they sexually assaulted Uncle Sam himself - those cops are baaaaad. The fact that white reporters get hassled and arrested like this ALL THE TIME? Irrelevant. Grievance baiting uber alles, baby.
Hmmm....let's see. Camera, mic, credentials..... but according to the police, you let him go at that point? Really? You really thought that he wasn't a reporter?
White as white gets journalist Amy Goodman arrested - and in Minnesota! https://www.huffpost.com/entry/journalist-amy-goodman-ar_b_123108
That's not the reason they gave. https://mobile.twitter.com/MnDPS_MSP/status/1266338580596690949 In the course of clearing the streets and restoring order at Lake Street and Snelling Avenue, four people were arrested by State Patrol troopers, including three members of a CNN crew. The three were released once they were confirmed to be members of the media. So it had nothing to do with where they were, it was a matter of who they were. You just made up a reason that even the police themselves didn't give.
Well, I don’t know if that’s the case or not. It could be that is was a safe place to set up moments before but the situation degraded. It is a riot zone after all, but for everyone’s safety, don’t get in front of a line of cops in riot gear.
And if Goodman and Wallace ain't white enough for you, lets not forget a man so white he can blind you: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-47891737
