You STILL did not watch the video. And therefore cannot address the subject of this OP, and cannot address my posts. Why won't you watch the video, what are you afraid of?

My own view is that it is unavoidable. China is in somewhat the same boat, but perhaps slightly better off. China is building coal fired plants while they are also leading the world on renewable energy tech. They are investing heavily to make renewables win, but they can not do it instantly.

We could help India if we wanted them to be successful/cleaner faster.

It might even be a good move to do so, as their region is one where some of the worst climate change impact could be, as they are the world's largest democracy, and as any failure there could be highly problematic for the US.

Will you quote D'Souza. Quickly use the video, play it on you tube, pick the time he says what you allege he says, and prove to us he says what you claim he says.

D'Souza points out how India is a 3rd world country and is trying to get up to 2nd world status.

What good will punishing India do?

Good grief, so now China is assisting Earth by building hundreds of coal fired plants?

India is not in an economic position to put such non coal systems into place. Africa is not. Most of South America is not.

Were China correct, they would have quit building any coal fired plants. They would quit loading their highways with autos.

India to progress needs desperately a lot more energy. That is what D'Souza told us all. I am still hunting for his actual statement that comes close or hints at what this new poster claims. I am replaying and replaying him explaining to the student in the audience and frankly see D'Souza as making sense.

Putting the brakes on your car controls the car. Me shoving the throttle in on the airplane controls the airplane. Me putting down the wheels and changing the manifold pressure controls the airplane. If we must get the blame for climate, the opposition must admit we humans control climate. But they want no part of that.

The video is 6 minutes long. Give us the minute and seconds where you think he supports your claim. How can you totally ignore the entire content to focus only on one part of his video?

Yes, cutting oil will mean some loss in the short term but global warming if true will be incredibly damaging for the next several hundred years. Global warming will mean seaside cities being flooded, stronger hurricanes, less water, less food, more droughts, and possibly a runaway warming over the next several hundred years as the planet releases more greenhouse gasses as it gets warmer. But alternative energy is getting cheaper and more abundant all the time so in the next few decades this won't be so much of a problem for these developing countries. In fact every single developing nation signed the Paris Climate Agreement because they know stopping global warming is in their self-interest and climate change will hurt them the most because they have far more vulnerable people who will be greatly hurt.

That is a bad analogy because putting on the breaks is an action while not emitting CO2 is a lack of an action. A better analogy is taking the foot off the accelerator.

Every developing nation has signed the Paris Climate Accord but they have no reason to take it seriously if the US isn't going to take it seriously. Even reducing how much we are adding CO2 will mean less warming and fewer consequences.

    NOBODY is "punishing" India.

The statement you refer to is a blatant, full on lie.

Again, the only group organizing international movement on climate is Paris, and (as I pointed out in detail) Paris does NOT DO WHAT THIS JOKER SUGGESTS.

If you disagree, you need to give specifics.

    Oh god

OK, At least I get the hint you figured it out. As to the issue over auto brakes.

First, let's try skepticism. It won't harm any of us. We are threatened by believers into sea rise theories.

What can be done by humans to protect coasts? We already have a lot of places with stone walls or concrete walls. I ask why not make Florida safe? They did it in Holland. I am not sure that the Germans saved Germany but if they get scared, they sure will want to do that.

Scientists that understand climate are not predicting gloom and doom. This is politics.

    True.

What you don't add about Paris is that the goals for each country were written by THAT COUNTRY - NOT by anyone from ANY other country. So, the goals of EVERY country are different. NO two are alike.

Further, there are NO enforcement clauses in Paris. If a country misses goals (regardless of why) there can not be any action taken against them.

In fact, countries can state they are missing their goals without that statement being construed as leaving the Paris accords. They don't even have to say, "Gee, sorry about that."

And as Trump threatens, any nation can actually just leave at any time.

Yet, the guy in the video claims India is being SOOO mistreated by the mean nasty climatologists!
    And,

They are not today punishing India. But what I call punishment is the blatant denial to them of compact energy. And to bet the farm on fans and reflectors makes no sense to me.

Do not call me a liar.

Now, you are WAY off the track of the OP!!

Did you give up trying to defend this Sousa guy?

And, you quote a climate change denier.

But, even your climate change denier is only doubting the amount of change that humans cause. She DOES believe in the ramifications of warming. She knows that your idea that it is "sea rise" is not the real issue.

AND, she states that the USA and the world need to start addressing the real impacts that is progressing.

I do not agree. They must do what they believe is in their best interest. If India does not mind remaining poor, a third world nation, they will quit the use of dense compact energy to favor expensive and less dense energy that stops when the sun goes down or the winds cease flowing. If they wish to remain poor, it will not change my life. I do not control climate to begin with.

As tiny ppm as there is of carbon dioxide, and as heavy as the gas is, where nature keeps it close to the earth, i am not afraid or carbon dioxide either. We are speaking of so small amount that were it dollars,

It is but 400 dollars out of one million. Chump change.

On this very forum, I once posted the mathematics of carbon dioxide on earth and it is mathematically impossible that such tiny amounts make changes to climate.

The proof came from a retired engineer of NASA. He put math to his study.

This video is not his proof, but to get the ball rolling, watch a professor who worked at NASA.

Your guy in the video states that India's energy future is being threatened by climatologists.

But, that is not a legitimate claim.

Let's at least get to the bottom of THAT issue before we hijack the thread to talk about some other issues.

Once again, you are trying to deflect.

This guy has been refuted, but before we get to that, it's important to get to the bottom of the OP.

First of all, that reply by me was to Distaff. I addressed his concerns and had dealt with yours in other posts.

D'Souza makes a lot of sense. No wonder you do not like his video nor will you provide to us the part you object to in his video.

Nobody is denying climate changes. That is one of the most ridiculous lies told about me or Curry. We do not deny what is factual. I have often given good examples of climate changes. Take the great lakes or take Yosemite Valley or even the fact NY City no longer is deep in a glacier. Heck, i have more examples that climate changes. So stop lying by saying we deny climate changes.

Frankly the USA has never at any point embarked on a genuine protective action vs climate. When you fear sea rise, you protect. You do not spout some piss ant concept humans control climate. We most certainly deny we control climate.

    ???
    - They are NOT being told to do anything. They are doing whatever it is that they want to do.

Again, that is how the Paris deal is designed.

The guy in the video is just plain wrong.

If you don't agree with me on that (such as you claim) then you better tell how you disagree.

    - solar power plants do not have to quit when the sun goes down. The plant in Morocco is built to run 24/7. Solar heat is used to melt sodium as a transport medium - taking heat from the collector to the generation plant. That heat lasts to generate electricity day and night.

Also, there are corporations that will put collectors on your roof, today, for free and will then share the savings in your power bill with you. In other words, it is cost effective. With wide area acceptance, that can offset fossil fuel power plant production. Whether it is day or night is irrelevant, as that is just a matter of load handling - which is already done today.

    No.

There are advantages to all countries working together - even if they aren't using the same approaches, have different capabilities, etc.
