So there latest tactic has Cummings and Nadler, with the help of the MSM, finding as much dirt, or something that might look like dirt to many voters, and make a giant pile large enough to cover this windmill. Schiff will add to this trying to reconstruct the Russian collusion windmill and chase that some more. You are correct. That is their plan, at least their plan for the next 3 or 4 months. They have to play the cards they were dealt.

As much as I can appreciate why Nadler has been patient in issuing a subpoena to get the complete report, possibly waiting to see how much cooperation he gets from Barr once the redacted report is released, he needs to consider something.
Barr has made his priority clear. Use first mover advantage to mis-characterize Mueller's findings by issuing the Barr letter summary...........and protect the prez by withholding as much of the report as possible.
So it's incumbent on Nadler to use the subpoena......cuz we know the WH..........through the actions of their puppet Billy Barr..........will fight to keep Mueller's report hidden from Congress and the public.

One thing to keep in mind. If Don wants to allow the release of grand jury material so the country can finally learn what happened he needs only to order it. But..........he doesn't want us to know.

Barr HAS played Nadler like fiddle. Color coded redactions ... Mueller redacted this color, Rosenstein redacted that color ... Oh the color pink that wasn't used but included in the color key? Grand jury testimony wasn't submitted by Mueller ... no pink redactions, sorry.

 

A great deal has been said about grand jury testimony being redacted. This may not be a big issue. Witnesses were questioned by FBI agents. That testimony does not have the protections afforded to grand jury testimony.

That is probably why Trump is so concerned. As an example, the former White House counsel, Don McGahn was questioned for 30 hours by FBI agents. Trump's former campaign manager and NSA were questioned by FBI agents, so was his son and son-in-law. That's just for starters.

It is if one is a Presidential candidate collaborating with the Russians, which is what Trump did. It is if one is the President and his foreign policy is dictated by his relationship with Moscow. Helsinki proved that to be the case.

 

One more day to see how far I'm off Sandy. Barr said "working hand in glove" with Mueller. Trump's the only one who doesn't have any input ... so no color assigned to executive privilege. But maybe Barr will pass up this golden opportunity to scapegoat Bob & Rod, and embarrass nasty Nadler & Schiff. Barr might have all the integrity that (D)'s say he hasn't. We'll see.

 

That is very funny. Barr wrote that. You might as well have given me a statement by Trump's lawyers telling us Trump didn't conspire with the Russians. Same difference.

However, things have changed because of the pressure placed on Barr by the two Congressional hearings. That statement is from Barr's short summary of the 400 page Mueller Report. At the time, he appeared to be covering for Trump because of his prejudices, belief in the unitary executive and his idea that the report was "fatally misconceived. Also, he got a lot of Senatorial angst for his "spying" crack.

Hopefully, that has all changed. He told the Senators he would not use redactions to hide evidence of Trump misbehavior. Also he said he would work with Congress on the redactions after he submitted the report, which is scheduled for Thursday morning.

Much of the evidence gathered for the report was obtained by questioning from FBI agents. That testimony does not have the protections afforded to grand jury testimony.

I'm sure this will come as a shock, but an investigation and a report are not the same thing. Barr cannot say the report is "fatally misconceived" because, among other things, it is required by law. The investigation is not. Conflate all you wish. Your choice.

Much of FBI questioning and notes do so have privacy protection. A prosecutor cannot issue a normal report and say his target proved not indictable but, "Charlie over there gave us some really suspicious answers to FBI questions." While a Special Counsel is slightly different, a prosecutor says either X is being charged or not. If he doesn't charge Y he says nothing about Y.

He also concluded there was no obstruction of justice despite the fact that Trump fired two FBI directors who were leading the investigation of Russian interference in our election. Barr is a Trump hireling, much like Trump's lawyers. Why should we believe him anymore than Trump's lawyers who say Trump is innocent of everything.

We haven't see the Mueller Report. We have no idea what it says.

Why do you makes statements from Trump's staff? They are a bit prejudiced, don't you think? Why not quote Trump himself regarding the Mueller Report?
