All I'm saying is that we don't know what led up to it, he probably misjudged the force used, and he didn't hurt her after she was down. After he throws her she tries to get up and they pretty gently pushed her back down. It's not like she got knocked out, knees dropped into her or a baton to the back of the head. I've seen arm bar moves do this to small females before, because when you're used to doing it to someone twice her weight your muscle memory reverts to your training.
All she had to do was turn around and let him cuff her. Resist arrest and thats what happens to you 100 times out of 100.
I agree cops aren't hired to punish people. She'll get punished by the courts when she's convicted. Of course she'll have a resisting arrest charge to worry about too because of her actions. We live in an imperfect world and when you act up with the police, you could just as easily end up in the morgue as jail. Some people want to play the odds, I prefer to go quietly and fight in court. Obviously this lady decided to go the other way and we get to debate the consequences of her poor decisions. It's going to look great on a resume.
There is a movie from Steven Seagal, where he plays a cop. He ends up breaking a guys arm, by repeatingly hit it with a hammer. He than takes his time to do the same with the guys other arm. He than takes his time to do the same with the guys kneecap. To than, break the other guys kneecap. (The "epic" fight in kill switch) 2 other cops see it. And only do something when he might use the hammer on the face. Seems like how it actually goes. Never mind when your fellow cop goes absolutely sadistically mentally criminal insane. Happy days these days with everybody having a camera to record what goes on. And yeah Steven Seagal is an actor,.. lots of b-movies,.. but also a real life actual cop, and trains cops. Seems obvious cops got too much military training, got too much 2nd hand military equipment, too many got no clue how to serve the public, too many got a flawed view of appropriate law enforcement, and bad examples that goes hand in hand with a cover up culture.
Nothing like a little self-hypocrisy to wake a man up. Maybe she left the house without a male escort.
Are you seriously just judging him for being a B-actor in his own movies, and ignore that the cop trains his fellow cops? (or retired cop, forgive me for not keeping track of his things)
If folks did the right thing there would be no need for cops. Just the fact that folks like you are ok with that is a sad day.
Like others have said, we don't know what she did, we only saw the result of it. I don't know if you've ever taken that type of training, but it's designed to put the target down with the least amount of harm as quickly as possible. You actually end up getting hurt more when swift decisive force isn't used. She didn't get hurt, other than maybe a scrape or two. It looks a lot worse than it really is.
Oy vey. I can't believe I have to explain this. Do you think Steven Segal trains cops to smash in kneecaps with hammers by watching his completely fictitious movies?
I'm not sure what the the Tea Party has to do with this, especially as governments putatively from far left to far right have been corrupt, and often a police state besides. If by reality, you mean they can do whatever they and you best not be a bother, that's foolish. Some people let power go to their head, and others allow convience to give reason to not do their job, but become what they are supposed to protect us from. The police are not better than anyone else, and they must be held to a higher standard than anyone else because of the power, and responsibilities, that comes with their position. If they fail, or worse, break the law at best they should leave, and at worst be in prison.
Living life without consequences are how people think they can act like that and get away with it. She wasn't injured, and learned a valuable life lesson. I bet from this point on she'll understand why she needs to follow the law. If some of the people who end up getting shot doing home invasions had been body slammed a little more, maybe they wouldn't be dead.
This action could have caused death by head injury. The cop involved should be fired at least. He has no place in law enforcement.
And the cop made sure she was not. Nice professional job, spotless, blameless. I saw some women of the same statue breaking metal handles and other unbreakable things in an outrage. I know a woman of the same statue who has a black belt in karate. Do some expect a cop to get in a fight or in an alternation with a perpetrator instead of apprehending him/her/it? And what is about that guy who rushed to her and was chased out by a bouncer?
Hi there, Apache I don't think she hit literally face first. The picture in your link doesn't show any facial injury. I think she used her right arm to break her fall, after watching the video several times. My speculation is that she was told she was under arrest and told to turn around and put her hands in the small of her back, but she resisted. When she resists, it's not really a question of whether she should be taken to the ground - just a question of how and how hard. I do not condone that throw on her - too much risk of injury. But lacking any real injury, I would say the officer and his department might get lucky (if there is no injury) ... at least as far as a possible criminal charge or a civil action. I'm sure this will get looked at long and hard by the officer's police department in any case. There are approved techniques for use by police, and police are expected to use a proportional level of force to overcome resistance to arrest. It will be interesting to see what comes of this.
The consequence was going to jail, not being slammed to concrete when it wasn't necessary. I hope this officer is taught some life lesson also. Things like this is why people form a distrust for the law. So your ass backwards analogy is if she hadn't gotten body slammed she would be doing home invasions. Folks you can't make this stuff up.
I always believed in the fairer sex, until women started complaining that nothing is fair and that they demand forced equality even when things are totally fair, and demand forced INEQUALITY to make things even more "fair". So when a 110lb woman gets slammed to the ground just like a guy would, my empathy has all but dried up, because why should she expect anything other then equal treatment? Who cares if the guy is twice her size. She is EQUAL. She is capable of doing anything he can. She is not weaker or more frail and is certainly NOT "fairer". Not any more. And its always about what they said or what they did BEFORE the cameras started rolling or were edited out, because it is rare for a cop to use excessive force for NO REASON. There is ALWAYS a reason. Every time, something is said or something is done to set the cop off. From the video, like I said, the cop went overboard, but guys get slammed to the ground like that daily. We just don't hear about it. Go watch an episode of Cops. We've got 3 decades worth of shows. Care to guess how many men get slammed to the ground? Lots. Women get slammed too. 100s of 1000s of hours of cops supposedly abusing poor innocent people.....but they're never innocent.
