So, according to your logic - if parents can't afford private schools, to bad. Then their kids are stuck w/irrational, hysterical idiots who don't have a lick of common sense on how to solve simple problems like a kiss b/t 2 12 yr olds... the only things these hysterical idiots know how to do is to call CPS and the cops on a 12 yr old girl who did something that's normal for her age... I bet if the girl kissed another girl, it would be a different story.... there would probably be "Halluaujahs!" and smiles from the admin.......
For possible abuse. Not a kiss. Even if the school has a No touching zero tolerance BS policy you call the parents not CPS.
No, you don't turn your back - you handle it in adult fashion. No hysteria and calling in the Marines -you simply TALK to the kids themselves, explaining there should be no kissing on school grounds. 12 yr olds are very capable of understanding the rule...... then you let it go! To bad the schools don't have a zero tolerance about no bullying like they do about no kissing........ but then that would require common sense....
Ah....you've inadvertantly swerved into yet another deep pocket entity...besides unions... that lauds $10's of millions on democrat politicians to keep the money train rolling in.... The Tort Industry. Takes a veritable act of congress to fire union employee stupidy... and can't make the most mundane, common sense decision without threat of being sued by a litigious society... that's been nurtured by statists, and an industry that lobbies congress to stay out of their "contingency" and...( for inability to think of a better term), "loser pays no legal fees" fiefdom. quite a scam. Thanks, lefties!
So you don't trust a college-educated teacher to sort out a matter such as a 12 yr old girl kissing a boy w/her own intellect and using good judgement?
Huh? In an incident like this, there should be no disciplining or punishment - you simply TALK to the kid(s) in a calm manner .... explain the does and don't, then let it go! Explain to the parents what happened, but you don't make a great big production over it...... The time and energy these incompetent morons invest in a trivial situation like this can be put to much better use........
This is the same public educator monopoly that wants to teach children how to put condoms on a cucumber.
where is the waste of time? the cops came to determine if there was reason to think a crime was committed.....they didnt seem to think so. isnt that sort of their JOB?
How do you know? Articles like these say nothing about what ACTUALLY happened. It may be one of the kids was very upset and crying. The kid may do this repeatedly and has been warned. We DON:T know because there would be very little Right Wing outrage if we had the REAL context. Further, as was said, teachers are MANDATED REPORTERS for sexual abuse. They PERSONALLY can go to jail for failing to report incidents. AND, they may have felt there was a chance, due to circumstances they CANNOT BY LAW DISCUSS WITH THE NEWSPAPER, the kisser was a sexualised abused child. Who knows? We sure don't. And this school, like ALL schools, obviously does not make his call every time a kiss happens, or it would NOT be NEWS! Why don't people find something REAL to get all hysterical about?
Next they are going to send SWAT teams to schools if kids are holding hands. I mean just encase a crime if being commited.
Its nice to know that speaking logic means you are a "right-winger". We know what the police report and the article state. Its what we are speaking about. You are the one that is making things up. Heck go to the next level. What if the girl was trying to distract the boy with a kiss while planting a detonator on him to make him a patsy! That girl could be a terrorist for all we know!
(((((( or kill your wife and kids because you own a few guns and live peacefully off the grid....or cling to 'God and Guns' in a Waco Texas religious commune... you know, 'just in case' )))))) Oh, wait....
By Florida law, school district employees are required to call DCF if they suspect abuse, Donzelli said. Haring’s reason for calling was not released. “As a teacher, they obviously felt that this was something they wanted to report and we encourage that,” said Terri Durdaller, spokeswoman for the Sun Coast Region of the DCF. Durdaller said DCF decides on a case-to-case basis whether the department will handle an incident reported to its 1-800-96ABUSE hotline or whether it will instead be referred to local law enforcement. “This call came into the hotline and it did not fit our criteria,” Durdaller said. According to DCF publications, legal criteria for a report through the department is constituted when there is reasonable cause to suspect that a child who is a Florida resident is believed to have been harmed or threatened by a parent, legal custodian, caregiver or other person responsible for the child’s welfare. http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2011/nov/17/kissing-crime-principal-calls-cops-after-elementar/
Teachers have been sued for stupid stuff like that. I do agree that parents should have been notified. That should always be the first thing school officials do. Schools have little or no consequences that they can impose on children.
This wasn't a mutual kiss. This was one kid imposing a kiss on an unwilling kid of the opposite sex. Schools do have zero tolerance on bullying, at least in Florida.
I used to kiss the little boys in second grade and the boys would chase me around the playground during recess. I never knew I was doing Anything wrong.
