In China, political leaders who hid hte truth were immediately removed and samples of the genome were given to the US and other countreis along with other data to help our decision making.

In America, elected officials who dont' tell the truth about this national threat are NOT removed.

In fact, we continue to LISTEN to them, even as they continue to make false statements and fail to consult experts before making ludicrous proclamations and criticisms based purely in partisan politics.

 

China has proven to be less than honest . Dont trust their accounting.

The local officials DID hide information from their own national leadership and the national leadership immediately solved that by removing those officials and giving us the full details, including the genome.

WE have government officials who have been telling us falsehoods for the entire dureation up through TODAY.

And, unlike China, we're not doing anything about that!!

If you are concerned about hearing the truth, you need to be carefully checking what our politicians are saying, because THEY are the ones with the bad track record on COVID truth.

IMHO, It's gone farther than that by now.

The NYTimes has a good collection of maps showing what's happening globally and in the USA.

NJ has more cases than WA. And, other states are very close behind - down to 7th place FL, which has over half the number of cases that NJ has.

And, we aren't limiting domestic travel - making it seem monumentally unlikely that there are states that will dodge this.

We are suppose to run fevers and burn the infections from our bodies. We have become much to dependent on artificial immunity. In the movie War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise it was a microscopic bacteria that ended the alien attack. The human body’s innate ability to overcome adversity is more powerful than any vaccine.

Invent a vaccine for COVID19 and COVID27 will decimate society. Build up natural immunity to COVID19 and COVID27 will be like the common cold.

A vaccine simply exposes the immune system to the infectious agent. This allows us to build natural anti-bodies.

 

Not PC to point this out, but the economies of many nations will benefit from this pandemic. Take Italy for example. Their economy was shackled by a large percentage of “pensioners” for lack of a better term. Thinning of this demographic frees up resources in both the public and private sectors that will be invested in productive demographics.

To be clear, from a value of human life perspective this virus sucks. From an evolutionary and long term economic standpoint it will certainly be advantageous.

Average age isn't the bottom line. And you only listed fatalities. I was talking about the number who required hospitalization. A large percentage of people in hospitals are less than 50. Medical workers are thought to get larger viral loads than the average person. So they are getting sicker than the average.

 

A new meta-analysis study was just discussed in this article (and I will probably make a thread on it too) about the predictive power of some underlying conditions and the likelihood of experiencing a severe case of covid. Apparently COPD is one of the strongest followed by heart disease and hypertension.
