and it wouldn't build hospital capacity or ensure there were ventilators or PPE were available.
It's just reimburses, and at a low rates. It doesn't have jack squat to do with infrastructure or capacity.

    You missed the point.

It seems bloody obvious now that Public Health For Profit is an inferior model.

Many have known that for years, but the message is suppressed by the mainstream media which profits immensely from the many ads bought by Big Pharma.

Utopia and perfect systems are not options in reality, but many "socialist" countries have demonstrated far better performance in this event than have countries like us, public health for profit.

One-time expenses can be dealt with. Permanently doubling our expenditures and tripling our tax burden will kill is.

Yet virtually every other first world nation on earth has a version, why are they so much more superior to be able to offer this type of program to their citizens than we are? (And yes, I know their have been a few failures but the majority are doing well)

These one time expenses are not one time.
How much do you believe you would currently owe to pay off the national debt?

I don’t want my taxes going to 55%-60% of my gross paycheck so we can have “free” medical care.

I don’t have to worry about the national debt (which is mostly due to entitlements) because I’ll be gone in a few years.

But I’d hate to be just leaving college right now, knowing I inherited all of that government debt.

The for profit model is doing about the same here in the US, to hear the talking heads talking.

It wouldn't be that much. You don't pay that large a part of your paycheck to support our never ending war on terror, and we have military bases in like 800 countries in the world.

Medicare for all would be considerably less, especially if we were to reduce the number of military bases worldwide by half or so.

Are we allowed to do it slightly differently than they do?

It doesn’t matter what system you have, for profit or universal, with a panic like this, and a large population, there’s going problems.
So saying we’d be better off with universal to fight this virus is nonsense.

The Italian healthcare system (as well as the rest of Europe) has been hurt by budget cuts because of austerity policies brought upon them by the global capitalist crisis. Get a clue.

You get a clue, they call this thing a pandemic for a reason. Stop using for political bs.

You are just mad because capitalism has exhausted itself and socialism is becoming more attractive to an increasing number of people.

They won’t, especially if we we get the fraud waste and military budget under control. (Even more so when you consider what you are currently paying in medical expenses).

We are already spending significantly more money than we bring in and receiving virtually no benefit — why not actually help our fellow Americans?

You shouldn’t be allowed to vote then — that is the Republican mantra, “I got mine **** you”.

You mean all of your debt.
    How compassionate of you. Disgusting

Everyone always wants to go after “waste, fraud, and abuse”, but nothing ever happens. That’s just a part of any system and it always will be.

The military budget is just 16% of expenditures. It’s relatively small.

The Dems drove up the debt with entitlements. I’ve been for a balanced budget amendment for 40 years, but no one listened.

Juxtapose that with the :democrat: mantra of, "We made bad choices, and lack ethics. So, gimme yours."

It is quite possible that, at last, the American public will have a profound change of heart regarding healthcare accessibility in the richest nation ever known. The entrenched interests and vigorous lobbying that have proven so effective in working against the general welfare may finally be overturned. This would be the miracle to emerge from this tragedy.
