They could have donated to strictly right wing or religious organizations for tax write off status. Think before you post.

Old granddaddy Koch developed the oilfields of the Soviet Union back in the 1930's when capitalism failed in the US.

Now that was an intelligent and thoughtful response - Not

Could it be that you know I’m right but refuse to face reality?

    I think so

So you think there are two people powerful enough to control the world?

We are dependant on fossil fuels because they are the only ones that really exist.

The agenda of fossil fuel is so that you can heat your house and drive your vehicle or ride on your bus or yes even pedal your bike. Movies about the equipment to use to dig holes all powered by fossil fuel. You may think who needs to dig holes but where do you think the water goes when you flush your toilet.

the only way you can escape fossil fuels is turn off your computer stop using electricity go up into the mountains and be a hermit if you're unwilling to do that you support the agenda of fossil fuels.

You sure do use them a lot. The electricity that you're using right now to attempt to shoot yourself in the foot. That's brought to you mostly by fossil fuels. Why don't you stop using it. Go out in the woods and live like a prehistoric man. That's where you would be without fossil fuels.

Think about how much you would pay for food that was harvested by hand delivered by hand. You would be squealing.

I do think before I post. Sure the Koch's have spent money on things like the Lincoln Centre and Smithsonian Museum but much of that was for tax breaks and to try to deflect negative publicity from their major donations to extreme right-wing and libertarian foundations and think tanks that have done untold damage to democratic institutions in America and fought tooth and nail to destroy any action to control greenhouse gas emissions and to confuse the public as to the reality of global warming.

These guys are worth over 100 B so the 100 M they spend on the arts or museums is little more than a tax right-off. Compare that with the money David Koch alone has spent on think tanks like Americans for Prosperity which have been front and centre on promoting conservative and tea party candidates, fighting things like mass transit, universal healthcare and any regulation on pollution or industry. Or consider the Cato institute which has been front and centre in promoting the climate change denial industry and it's lackeys such as Lord Monkton or Anthony Watts.

Did you watch any of the videos I posted before commenting? No, of course not. Here is some more for you to consider:

"When billionaire libertarian David Koch died this week following a decades-long battle with prostate cancer, the Arctic was rapidly melting. The Amazon rainforest was on fire. And the Earth had just experienced its hottest month in recorded human history.

These planetary conditions mimicked closely what scientists had tried to warn the public about 30 years ago, when they first sounded the alarm on climate change. They were also the warnings Koch worked most of his career to make sure the American public never accepted, nor did anything about.

At the time of his death, David Koch was one of the richest men in the world, having amassed a fortune of approximately $49 billion through his part-ownership of his oil tycoon father’s business, Koch Industries. Along with his brother Charles Koch, he used that fortune to fund a powerful yet secretive right-wing libertarian movement, known by its critics as the Koch network.

I asked Christopher Leonard, author of Kochland: The Secret History of Koch Industries and Corporate Power in America, to reflect on David Koch’s climate legacy.

Koch Industries—that is, David and Charles Koch and their political network—has played an almost unparalleled role in helping to cast doubt on the basic science behind climate change; create doubt in the public mind that climate change is real; and particularly, most importantly, to cast doubt on the idea that government regulation can or should do anything to regulate greenhouse gas emissions.

Tactically, the way their political network did this was by funding a constellation of think tanks, from the Heartland Institute to the Cato Institute to the American Energy Alliance. And they produced study after study predicting terrible economic consequences if the federal government regulated greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, the Koch network employed campaign donations and its own private force of volunteers and employees called Americans for Prosperity to fuel and organize the Tea Party movement. The Koch political network rode the wave of the Tea Party movement expertly, injecting its own concerns into the Tea Party’s agenda, and turning climate change into a front-burner issue for the movement."

Bill Maher Has No Tears For David Koch: “I’m Glad He’s Dead And I Hope The End Was Painful”

The proverb “Don’t speak ill of the dead” is credited to Chilon the Wise, the same Greek sage from 500 B.C. who said “Do not laugh at a person in misfortune.” Chilon, no surprise, has never been a fan of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher most likely due to philosophical differences with the show’s host.

On Friday night’s show Maher had his audience cringing with the post-mortem zingers he aimed at two recently deceased (and widely reviled) news figures, wealthy sex predator Jeffrey Epstein and billionaire conservative activist David Koch.

“And now, some funeral news to report [from] yesterday: David Koch, of the zillionaire Koch brothers, died of prostate cancer,” Maher said early in his monologue. “I guess I’m going to have to re-evaluate my low opinion of prostate cancer. He was 79, but his family says they wish he could live longer, but at least he lived long enough to see the Amazon catch fire.

Condolences poured in from all the politicians he owned, and mourners have been asked in lieu of flowers to just leave their car engines running. As for his remains, he’s been asked to be cremated and have his ashes blown into a child’s lungs.”

And for you hypocrites who condemn celebrating someone's death....don't tell me you aren't preparing celebrations for when Ruth Bader Ginsburg dies.

You have them some of it. That's how they make billions. There will always be someone to take his place. Let's not forget the American petroleum institute and who they fund and who they collect money from.
