Obama won re-election, we won't (thank god) have the opportunity to find out what the GOP trash would do to "finish the job" that W started to destroy america.

However, they failed to re-take the House, that should be a BIG clue to Obama that the people don't want him to finish his job. By the way, Obama won by less than the population of 2 boroughs of New York City, the Democrats need to start listening to the people or 2014 will be as big a rout as 2010.

Ah, a Democrat. Another faithful follower and true believer? You gotta be lovin' this too. Just think of how we can grow the unemployment rolls and food stamp programs. Force more businesses to reduce employee ranks or outright close. Reduced health care benefits, raise energy prices (because we have an oil man in the WH) and continued disrespect for the Constitution. And all the while tell America that for 50% of the President's last term he had the House and Senate and will soon stack the supreme court so the Constitution becomes irrelevant but all his (Obama) woes (Economy, increase regulations-because you can never have enough of that, steadfast in shrinking second amendment rights, Foodstamps, free cell phones, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, Voter intimidation, etc.) originate and end in an R after a name. Forward America, to the cliff! The President says he'll catch up, just as soon as he finishes this round of golf first.

A government shutdown will hurt Obama voters far more than conservatives.

Bring it on if that's want Obama wants.

All the cons on this thread are so convinced that not raising the debt limit will only hurt everyone but them. They think a government shut down is just what they want. They think that going off the fiscal cliff will only hurt those on SS and Medicare, and those on welfare. They think that the interest on the debt will be paid even in a collapsed economy. It really makes them happy to see this country suffer. That's sooooo Al Qaeda. The cons are Al Qaeda's best weapon.

as usual, you are totally wrong on all points.

The interest on the debt will always be the first thing paid, the USA will not default on its debts

SS and medicare will be paid next, people on those programs will not be affected

Govt spending must be cut to match revenue, taxes cannot be raised enough to stop the borrowing.

Refusing to raise the debt limit is the right thing to do--force the govt to live within its means.

No, we've just had enough of Comrade Obama and his Marxist policies. You cannot spend your way to prosperity. You cannot borrow your way to freedom. Half of every dollar the government spends is borrowed from China and Obama's only solutions are more spending and higher taxes on the wealthy which will not even come close to solving the problem. By the way, I'm not some rich fat cat... I'm 34, I never finished high school, and I drive a tow truck for a living. We've had enough of going to work every day and paying our taxes only to see our freedoms taken away and our hard earned tax dollars given away to scum that won't work for a living like the rest of us. We're not dependent on the government for food stamps and disability checks. The government can shut down and we'll be fine and we're tired of carrying everyone else on our backs. We want others to step up and work for a living like we do. We want the government to leave us alone and quit taxing us to death. Trying to draw a link between hard working, mature, conservative Americans and terrorists is asinine and a Herculean leap. Cranial Rectumitis is a horrible malady that unfortunately afflicts many people in this country...pull your head out of your ass sir.

If the American people quit spending, the economy collapses. Don't you remember Shrub telling everyone to go shopping at Christmas to save the economy? My what short memories cons have.

What a horrible way to live. "I must spend my hard earned money on something I don't really need so the world can continue to perpetuate a lie."

President Obama loves you and won't let that happen to you...but if he does push the economy over the cliff remember and keep repeating that it is Bush's fault. It would seem that Obama doesn't have the wherewithal or inclination or both to lead us (like Moses and Abraham) on the righteous path to morally economic prosperity (meaning stop stealin' from children and those yet unborn)

And apparently you haven't the first clue about the difference of citizens spending to bolster the economy vs the government spending outside its means to keep jacking up the debt.

Your local community college probably has some economics 101 classes you could take.

You've got to be talking about how the cons spend $700 billion a year on the Pentagon. Yeah, let's cut off the war machine and see how many bomb makers get put on unemployment. The $3 trillion you cons wasted on the Iraq war was a lot of spending. Didn't hear any of you whining about that.

    What morons.

Because it was necessary. Whole different ballgame than continuing to bailout thugs and handout money and benefits to illegals and lazy liberal (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s.

That's ok though, just keep holding out that hand while you can. At the rate obama is going it won't be long before those that do aren't gonna anymore, or they're going to do like the French and start leaving. Eventually you and your ilk won't have anymore sugar daddys or sugar mommas in the workforce busting their butts to support you lazy (*)(*)(*)(*)s.

Beginning of Rant. What gets me is asking what was Bush's military exit strategy (I say the exit strategy would have to be victory, that's just me) but the lack of concern for a sensible exit strategy for fiscal mismanagement? Keep on spending and borrowing? Sounds like a defeatist strategy. Three years (or more) without a budget, years and years without addressing the 800 lbs. gorilla in the room, doubling on indebtedness, economic enslavement, but just keep taxing and spending. This is anyone's fault except our two termed President elect. He'll gleefully sacrifice the 98% to get the 2%. My Class-Warfare Hero. End of Rant.

We've been doing this for quite a while now, and inflation is still at historical lows. Wanna... I dunno... Date that prediction?

As usual a Liberal with not a clue as to what game is being played,by One Party.
It's ALL the fault of the Democrat Party.
    Like Obama's ridiculous Budgets { 99-0 } twice.Once was 97-o because of the Teddy
    Kennedy death.
Harry Reid Failing to do as Federal law requires ... to pass a Budget.
Reid refuses to even debate a Budget let alone submit one.
Now we have Obama on record requesting an automatic Debt limit power.
Thankfully Mitch McConnell refuses to even consider debating giving Obama a
black check. The Fed already got Unlimited QE III.Open-ended printing of money.
The ONUS is entirely on the Democrats.
They live to Hoodwink and display Malfesance.

Its nearly impossible to date the psychological reaction of an endless fiat bonanza. Why not be safe first?

Comically, the only thing keeping the USA in check is the fact that every other centrally planned government in the world is doing it too.

Why should we stop at the current debt limit. Can someone please give me the math that says our debt has reached a "limit", or am I gonna get tons of philosophical concepts about your own finances and what you "think" the Govt should be doing? Why is $17 trillion too much, but $10 billion is not, or why can't we borrow $100 trillion?

Why doesn't the government just give everyone all the money they want then? Think about your question.

The debt ceiling is a statutory limit the United States Treasury can borrow up to. It is imposed by political will; it is not an objective threshold.
