Yep....now 5 Demos want to support Repubs just to fund the government with the Repubs without DACA.

As far as the political fallout, a handful of Democratic Senators who serve in red states seemingly realized the impact of this vote on their own midterm election prospects. Senators Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Claire McCaskill of Missouri voted with Republicans in favor of the continuing resolution.
They understand that Independents -- voters whom they will need in November -- agree with Republicans on the issues facing Congress in the shutdown debate......snip~

That still may not be enough.Even with a Nuclear Option
    or Reconciliation. { 51 votes passes }.
John McCain will not be voting. There's another Senator
who is also sick.Rand Paul may not vote.Who knows about Jeff
flake. That takes it from 51 GOP members to around 47.

Hard to find? Drumpf is taking credit for Obama's economic legacy since the current economy is built on the record job growth and reversal from a near depression forged by Obama's policies.

Huh, normally government shutdowns reflect badly on the president...

    It's different with this president.

    Now for reality.

Retreat: Senate Dems Abandon Unpopular 'Schumer Shutdown,' Advance GOP Bill to Reopen Government.....

Last night, Mitch McConnell offered Senate Democrats an off-ramp from their foolish, quixotic, unpopular Schumer Shutdown -- and with internal anxieties and divisions reportedly ratcheting up, they decided to take it. Five members of the minority caucus already broke ranks on Friday to vote in favor of the House-passed spending bill, meaning that a simple majority of the US Senate was on the record in support of the GOP's government funding bill. A number of the tiny handful of Republicans who voted with Democrats last week publicly lined up behind McConnell last night.

To recap, the Republican-held House approved it, a majority of the Republican-held Senate, and the Republican president was prepared to sign it. Some liberals and spinmeisters reviewed these facts and still insisted that this shutdown was the fault of Trump and his party. The basic facts prove otherwise, however, so much so that even the Associated Press and New York Times had no choice but to appropriately assign blame where it belongs. Democrats' strategy to shut down the government in order to extract concessions on ancillary, non-budgetary political issues wasn't playing well, and looked even worse in light of Democrats' own passionately-argued stance against such tactics. So they've decided to accept the face-saving path to retreat offered by McConnell:

But there's another twist, too. The GOP has argued, rightly, that a DACA/immigration compromise should be pursued on a separate track from government funding. What McConnell has worked out with his members is a commitment to allow an open process of amendments and votes on DACA and border security bills if no broad agreement is reached prior to February 8. He also said he'd move to address other outstanding issues too. One caveat: He said clearly that he will not allow these processes to move forward if Democrats shut down the government again. Here's his floor speech delivered shortly after the chamber reconvened this morning, setting the stage for the successful cloture vote (breaking the Democrats' filibuster) moments ago:.....snip~

    All talk and no sources.

That said, the Democrats blinked. That was to be expected. They control nothing. They are a minority party in every sense of the word.

Trump did absolutely nothing over the weekend to end the shutdown. He met with no one. Not one Senator has come forward and said Trump talked to him on the phone. Trump didn't call Schumer. He didn't call McConnell. He made no statements to the American people. Over the weekend, the White House remained shuttered. There was no news conference. Beyond a tweet asking for the nuclear option -- which was quickly rejected by the Republican leadership -- Trump didn't do a thing.

The C.R. is for three weeks, and the Democrats were promised that the issue of the Dreamers would be taken up in that time. However, McConnell is already playing it coy. He is talking about immigration, not the Dreamers. Immigration reform is complicated and contains many issues, the wall, chain migration, lottery system, border security (which itself has many issues), status of the eleven million illegal immigrants living in the U.S., etc.etc. Congress has been trying to pass immigration reform for decades.

So, in other words, the Republicans are already trying to complicate the issue. Schumer and the Democrats are talking only about the Dreamers and making them legal by statute. That is agreeable to over 80% of Americans and two-thirds of Republicans. Even Trump has said he loves the Dreamers.

It will be interesting to see what the reaction of the Democrats will be if, at the end of the three-week C.R., McConnell and the Republicans are still dragging their feet on legalizing the Dreamers.

Then there is another fascinating issue. If the Senate passes a bill legalizing the Dreamers, what will the House do? The House will go along with the Senate only if Trump approves.

And no one knows what Trump will do.

    Including Trump.

At the time. Like the Clintons were against same sex marriage before they were for it or when Obama said he couldn’t regulate DACA before he did.

Yes we already know what Trump will do. He will stand on FULL funding for the wall and not just for a year like the Demos were offering, which was a lie and McConnell knew it was. Oh and of course Trump will Twiddly dee tweet, tweet tweet.

You say you lean Right. So you should be happy that the Demos took the big hit in losing on this issue. Yet for some reason.....none of that is showing with your rhetoric. I wonder why that is Sandy.

All Trump asked for in his budget for the year was 1.6 billion. Th Dems offered 2.8 billion.

Why hasn't the GOP even proposed a bill to fund the wall?

They control both houses of Congress ya know
