When is a spending deal not a spending deal? When it's a DACA deal.

It's pretty simple: funding bills should be about appropriations, not immigration. Unfortunately, Democrats let politics take priority over policy, thus paralyzing any compromise, ultimately shutting down the government.

It's irrelevant whether you call it a #SchumerShutdown, #ShitholeShowdown, or #SwampShutown. Washington will point fingers and look to place blame, while the American people will suffer.

Democrats were so hell-bent on settling the fate of unlawful immigrants that they were willing to punish lawful residents who serve in our military, rely on children's health insurance and rely on valuable government services.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said, "this is the behavior of obstructionist losers, not legislators."

Chuck Schumer blames the GOP generally and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell specifically, saying the Democrats are happy to compromise, but "we will not be bullied."
The reality is that Democrats chose protections for recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients over funding the government. They will have to explain that to the American people.

The fact is that, while there is tremendous support for protecting Dreamers, 56% of Americans, according to a recent CNN poll, said approving a budget to avoid a shutdown was more important than continuing DACA. Thirty-four percent thought renewing DACA was more important than preventing a shutdown......snip~

Ahahahahah.....CNN telling it like it is,(even they don't want to lie to the American people on this issue) and now the Demos have some splainin to do with the American people. What say ye?

    It is now.....

As far as the political fallout, a handful of Democratic Senators who serve in red states seemingly realized the impact of this vote on their own midterm election prospects. Senators Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Claire McCaskill of Missouri voted with Republicans in favor of the continuing resolution.
They understand that Independents -- voters whom they will need in November -- agree with Republicans on the issues facing Congress in the shutdown debate......snip~

We in Missouri know all about McCaskill's subterfuge. She might side temporarily with republicans NOW, but as soon as she gets reelected, she's right back to being a hardcore dem. That's usually typical of any rational dem so don't let them fool ya.

I prefer the irrational dems that are too stupid to realize republicans were blamed for shutting down the gov in 2013, and then republicans GAINED 9 SENATE SEATS a year later. LOL

That one was also about funding the gov. to limit spending. It's also about standing up to dems and their party politics.

The commies screamed for a clean appropriations bill, got one, and then shut down the government anyway.

    hell to pay come November.

Hopefully Missourians will do the Right thing, and vote her lying ass out of office. Somebody will need to ask her to tell Missourians how she never talked with the Russian Ambassador and set up to lie again.

Yes, I'm hoping MO citizens still remember McCaskill's last reelection where dems crossed over to nominate Aiken who lost miserably against her in the general election. Aiken was a distant 3rd place for nomination in polling right up to the nomination. McCaskill ADMITTED publicly she funded ads for Aiken so he would win, but I think dems also crossed over to nominate him. They knew he was the only one McCaskill could beat.

Leftists are worse than Communists. Communists, one can at least understand what they are about. Leftists not so much. To many alternate realities.

    Hence their avoidance issues too.
