    No.

My wife would get a kick out of that question.

Laws that unleash criminals and encourage them to carry and use deadly weapons including firearms are irrational and dangerous.

"The rise in crime in England and Wales is accelerating, according to police figures, which show a 14% year-on-year increase in offences recorded by forces across England and Wales.

Knife crime has gone up even more steeply, by 21% in the 12 months to September, and gun crime has risen by 20%, according to quarterly figures released on Thursday."
THE GUARDIAN, Rise in recorded crime is accelerating in England and Wales
Police figures show offences up 14% in a year, with knife and gun crime rising even more steeply, Alan Travis Home affairs editor, Thu 25 Jan 2018.

Then you and your wife will not offset the impact of the reward card holder who no longer shops at Dick's.
It would have been better for their business if they had not become involved in political activism.

Then again it may turn out to have been better that they did.

Correct. Smuggling is one of the largest industries in the world. Anything can come across any border if the demand is high enough.

And every kind of weapon can now be made DIY on any home workbench.

Face the facts, the gun bans, along with so many other "progressive" schemes have failed miserably.
Time to come up with some good ideas, and to stop pushing the failed ones.

It doesn't take many. Youtube videos have showed how to make Sten-guns from a few dollars worth of hardware in minutes with a home drill press.
And blue prints for everything are all over the internet.

I used to spend a few thousand a year at Dicks. My son was an avid fisherman and he often bought stuff like line, Rods and lures at Dicks before Cabelas put a shop up near us, because the Local Dicks was 15 minutes closer than Bass Pro. I'd buy stuff like knee braces, tennis shorts, foosballs, and when they had their buy one get the other half price, I would stock up on Remington Gun Club shotgun shells when I was shooting 10-15 sporting clays events a year. My wife would buy exercise wear, shoes etc.

Anyone who wants a gun can obtain one easily anywhere. Of course, it is harder for criminals to evade surveillance and escape from a small island - but with a boat...

Good. Then you won't mind gun control because you can still get a gun.

Really really low crime rate in NYC and Hawaii......must be a coincidence

why such silly hyperbole? No one supports six year olds or felons or those adjudicated mentally dangerous from having unfettered aches to full automatic weapons. The gun banners constantly tell lies and then get upset when we call them on those falsehoods. most of the gun control activists are not truly motivated by a realistic belief their schemes will prevent violent crime-but rather they are left wing activists who hate the voting patterns of us pro rights activists

Only a few hundred a year for me. They will not miss me much, but then I am not alone.

Gun bans, like all weapon bans, make weapons more valuable for criminal predators. Helpless human beings who cannot fight back are subject to hellish attacks now in places where weapons are banned.

"According to data from the Metropolitan Police in London, 454 acid attacks were reported in 2016.
This is a huge increase ( >173%) from the 261 reported attacks in 2015, and almost triple the number of attacks reported in 2012."
CNN,There were more than 450 acid attacks in London last year, By AJ Willingham and Muhammad Darwish, Fri July 14, 2017.

Oh I guess we are off NYC and Hawaii......to places with very very strict gun laws and low crime.

I doubt it. Dick's has alienated a substantial part of their customer base, and there are many alternative sources for everything they sell.

This is what happens when ordinary human beings are disarmed and rendered helpless by irrational gun control schemes:

"The number of violent crimes and sex offences recorded by police in England and Wales has risen sharply over the past year, figures suggest.
Knife crime and robbery also increased in the 12 months to September 2017 compared with the previous year, the Office for National Statistics said.
About 5.3 million crimes were recorded in all in that 12-month period, up 14%."
BBC, Crime statistics: Violent crime and sex offences rising, police figures suggest, 25 January 2018.

I go to Dicks for sneakers. I get 4 or 5 different pairs, try them all on, walk around the store, make a decision, buy a couple, and out the door. What they do beyond that never enters my mind.

Human beings are the same everywhere, and guns are easy for criminals to obtain everywhere. Surely you know that by now.

"Assault rifles and machine guns are being seized at an alarming rate. Photo: Penny Stephens
The Soviet-era assault rifle is the weapon of choice for Third World armies and terrorists, but this one was destined for the streets of Melbourne.

The notion that a military-grade weapon could be in the hands of local criminals is shocking, but police have already seized at least five machine guns and assault rifles in the past 18 months. The AK-47 was not among them.

Only a fortnight ago, law enforcement authorities announced they were hunting another seven assault rifles recently smuggled into the country. Weapons from the shipment have been used in armed robberies and drive-by shootings.

These are just a handful of the thousands of illicit guns fuelling a wave of violent crime in the world’s most liveable city."

So gun control does not work in Australia because some criminals still have guns.......is that your point?

    Read again: Melbourne: "Gun City".

Helpless prey attract predators. Urban Hell holes are the hallmark of strict gun control and a disarmed people.

"VICTORIAN crime rates have soared over the past year despite promises of a statewide crackdown by police chiefs and Premier Daniel Andrews.
New statistics reveal crime across the state has soared by 10.2 per cent in the last year."
