Does the Democratic Party still feel the guilt of their slavery supporting past?

The modern concept of right and left didn't really exist in America at that time.

Many of the framers of the constitution owned slaves.

It's not a right v left thing. Some believe blacks were savages, chattel, and that was the state of mankind at that time. Slaves are in the Bible, slavery has a long history. Existed long before liberalism and conservatism existed in the modern era.

So, ending slavery is just mankind becoming enlightened, gradually, some took to it sooner than others. Like a flower blossoms, think of mankind as that flower achieving blossom (noting we are still in that state and the fruition hasn't fully developed to it's greatest potential, that might take another few hundred years), and quit trying to blame the whole damn thing on one faction.

 

As in they were all as bad as eachother?

that this is your concern at such a crisis moment in our history says a lot about you. anybody considering owning or abusing another human should be highlighted and penalized accordingly. I don't think you'll find a Dem in that crowd, they grew up and out of that dark age nastiness but we know the never-right is all that and far worse.
