I take it you are excluding most of the religious right from your set of Christians who base their positions on logic and science.

 

I made no claim that his profession guaranteed his opinions on abortion are true. I merely pointed out it’s silly to dismiss him out of hand when he likely has more knowledge of the subject than you and I together.

If you don’t see how your comment on Satan and Mr. Darwin is a comment on religion and science I rest my case. You have confirmed my suspicions.

 

I keep reading how Carson was supposed to have been a famous neurosurgeon.

Have you read what he writes or heard him speak?

A good doctor will tell you that his knowledge is deep but narrow. He knows one thing very well.....and that is it. He is not an expert outside of that one thing

2) I did not state that Carson's comment on Darwin and evolution was a comment on either religion or science - Why are you putting words in my mouth.

What Carson's claim does do is show a serious bias and tendency towards irrational positions.

Last - I did not dismiss Carson's claims in relation to abortion. What I dismissed was the appeal to authority fallacy.

 

I don’t know most religious people or most “right” people. I do know the commonly held beliefs of both are easily defensible with both logic and science. Sure there are exceptions. I mean where’s the logic of the Westboro Baptist, right?

What is the significant difference between the single human cell known as the (Zygote) and other human cells (brain, heart and so on ) that makes one a "living human" - a "Homo sapiens" while these other cells are not.

The act of disparaging another’s beliefs is assuming your own understanding of the belief in question is superior. If you have a good understanding of science and theology then intellectually address the issue. Disparaging anything is literally commenting on it.

Perhaps we have a misunderstanding on the appeal to authority issue. Are you saying I used the fallacy, Carson did, or the OP?

Carson is on record as having no problems will killing grown children. He’s the last idiot I would listen to about abortion.

 

Have you ever really looked in to the various theories on the fossil record, evolution, etc. or just been taught one? I encourage you to broaden your horizons. Something to whet your appetite: Ever wonder why so many fossils exist in certain strata? Ever wonder why those corpses managed to survive long enough to be buried under such high pressure they didn’t decompose? Had to happen fast. Is it proof of a flood? Nope. It’s a theory as logical as any other to an open mind.

When does a potential human life exist? As a fertilized ovum? As a 1,000,000 cell fetus? As a 9 month fetus? As a 2 year old when it can learn “no” means no? When it’s a productive member of society? I can’t decide for you but I’m glad I survived the zygote stage!

Don’t ask me about fundamentalists. I can tell you God is pro human so I guess you could say he’s against destructive behavior like alcoholism.

I’m not trying to be an ass, but I do encourage you to look in to some things you’ve be told to abhor. Knowledge is freedom. Make yourself free, don’t depend on me for that.

 

I’d be interested to see that. Doesn’t fit with his beliefs in general. I really would like to see this. I’ve no dog in this fight really. I just like intellectual honesty.

 

Babies that have a high likely hood of killing the mother at birth should be an exception. Babies that pose no risk to the mothers life should not be killed. Many Democrats do not value life as many of us Republicans do.

 

Look at the few posts above me from Quester. Did you not listen to the presidential debate??
