What determines dominance is not population, but wealth, and resources. Technology has, of course, also become a major factor and, in the modern age, information is becoming ever more valuable. It is hard to see an Islamically- dominated world, in any of those criteria.

 

While this may or may not be a legitimate issue, Elon Musk is not exactly in any way specially qualified to be providing an opinion about this.

This is an irrelevant way of thinking of things, because a person needs much more than just living space, to support their existence. Do all those Parisians grow their own food, and compost or attend to ALL of their own waste? And just imagine the inoperability of a dense CITY, the size of Mexico.

Not all land is amenable to, or desirable for, human habitation. But if our planet were being used for a galactic prison, then you would be right: there'd be room to grow.

Health and warfare have traditionally been the regulators of population.
The former has improved enormously and compared to the past, there are far fewer important wars.
It won't happen in my lifetime but there has to be a huge change in the popular expectation that children are the accepted norm and childlessness is a selfish negative lifestyle.
And women are IMO principally to blame. Young and middle aged women self select into those with and those without and there is an underlying assumption that those without are somehow unfulfilled and unaware of the job of parenting, therefore lacking essential skills.
This attitude is just starting to be discusses more widely and in the rich West, more women are deciding not to parent.
I think it was at a conference that Musk made his comments. He wants to see planets colonised so more is better I suppose.
My own concern is the quality of parenting, not the number of children born. Of course there is a limit but nature looks after that. If prospective parents don't see a better life ahead for their children they won't have them.

 

What limited resources? We were told this in the 1970s it was bull.

The poor always get poorer during periods of inflation.
Plus reduction in benefits and higher taxes.
Ask the UK, currently the best example I know of these simple political decisions.

Corporation taxes should be lower and they have not one damn thing to do with inflation. We probably should not have even have taxes on corporate profits. Corporations are not people they are businesses that we want to succeed and employ more people and spend more on research capital goods and equipment.

Why would companies in the USA pay higher taxes on their profits than a company in Sweden or Germany? That is retarded.

As for rich individuals they should pay a little more.

 

Why would a person on the left complain about rich people when they got Biden elected? Mark Zuckerberg spending $400M to help Biden? Social media censoring stories to help Biden?

I think we’re on the brink of proper water resources already at in the US. It’s either that or a major redefinition of how resources are consumed. It’s more about where people are living. There is a lot of undeveloped land here but do we really need more people?

Like others said it’s about govt dependence. You need the young to take care of the old. Who’s taking care of all these old people with no dependents? And with the nuclear family breaking down and both parents working, the dynamic is all out of whack. People want their stuff and having more stuff and less kids or no kids is more important.

It also breaks down by political persuasion fairly consistently. More conservative religious people have more children than progressive atheists. Narcissism is a bigger problem on the Left than the Right. It’s no surprise why there is such a push to convince young children how they should think and why progressive ideology is heavily pushed in schools. They know it’s the only way regain ground.

If little girls are hammered with the message that being a stay at home mom is a waste of their lives they won't have them.

If more and more "men" are just overgrown little boys desperately avoiding any and all of the responsibilities of a real man they won't have them.
