Progressives have identity politics. To base your political platform on pitting different groups against each other is indeed different and perverted values.

All by themselves? No families, no supportive friends and investors, no wives who kept them fed and encouraged?
There were a few people of colour who had an input too.

Something very funny about this when you have a republican president who has divided this country like it has never been divided before. The President of the United States calls Democrats bad people. Whenever you ever heard of a president make a statement like that? Talk about perverted values!

Some said when women got the vote, it was their second vote.

They had their husband's by the . . . and a vote in their name too.

No, that is what Affirmative Action does. I am a Radical Individualist and do not believe that one's group identities are to be taken as a measure for one's character because once you peel off all of those layers of identity, you are left with only the inner core; the individual.

If you start to talk about certain individuals as "Privileged" for having the characteristics of a certain group, you are doing exactly what you fear; putting armbands on people for the way they look.

What is it that is so hard to understand? If the government passes an Affirmative Action legislation, it means the government has the power to dictate what company hires whom and what school accepts what applicant. It is very totalitarian and something that does not rhyme with being a Liberal at all.

The only government appealing to me is one small enough to fit inside Donald Trump's left palm. :)

You know.... Using "public school" as a defense for government is not exactly the most convincing thing a Statist can do.

Aren't all government cops vicious racists in your eyes anyways?

Ever heard of supply and demand?

Well, you are. True "Right Wingers" as in Conservatives are Anti-Collectivists and thus believe in the individual over the collective. Fitting people into boxes and labelling them things are not appealing to them because it goes against the foundation of Conservatism.

No, this is just a flatout, garbage shaming-tactic. I would expect something more enlightenned from an intellectual, to be honest. Especially, if the intellectual in question also labels herself as "tolerant" and "Liberal". But, hey. That is just me and yes, quite obviously, we do have very different values.

Both sides of my family, but a ways back (great grandparents). Some of us look it, some of us don't. I'm borderline. Other indigenous can often see it, but white folk can't.

    Coincidentally, I'm also a bit semitic :p

Have you had your 23AndMe done.
Once in, no annual fee for updates.
As they define new populations, they update your ancestry.
I am about as inbred as one can imagine.
    Like 99 and 44 / 100ths %, Ashkenazi.

From Puerto Rico across Northern Mexico there is a common mix
Including Michelle Rogrieguez and Eva Longoria
    60% Euro
    20% Native American
    3-5% Sub Sahara Africa
0.3-0.5% Ashkenazi which is probably Sephardi genetic over lap.
My best friend matches the above too.

One friend found cousins from the 1700's!

No one I know feels cheated from 23AndMe
and those that did more than one service preferred . . .

Conservatives and Libertarians (I'm a libertarian) don't judge people by the color of their skin or their gender.

We're not the ones illegally passing laws to seperate people according to their race and gender.

The people obsessed with those things are you leftists, Democrats/progressives/socialists/communists.

You are cheering on lawless government. The FedGov has no constitutional authority to discriminate for or against anyone.

Americanism is founded in republicanism, i.e. the rule of law. When the government acts outside of the law it is up to We The People to rein them in.

But leftists don't do that - you cheer on ever more lawlessness. You are repeating all of the disastrous mistakes that other civilizations in history made which led to their collapse.

    Now you're resorting to strawmen??

Police, fire, streets, utilities, etc, are all legitimate functions of local government - and none of them fall under the jurisdiction of the the FedGov.

And yes, I would love to faze out SS and Medicare. Both are unconstitutional, inefficient, and unsustainable.

    Nonsense.

As it happens, my wife is an immigrant.

Oh yes people are never judged by their race or gender LOL pretending they aren’t is naïve.If you don’t believe blacks and women have been held back for hundreds of years then there’s no use discussing anything with you. Just saying that we shouldn’t have racism or sexism doesn’t make it go away. I also thought it was cute how you pick and choose from the government what you like. Thank you for referring to me as an intellectual, I never claimed to be one, but I know the difference between reality and Naivety ... I chuckled when you said that conservatives don’t put people in boxes as you put liberals in boxes all the time

I do because it said that my niece is my half sister and her brother is my first cousin. That would mean my father had an affair with my sister-in-law but the problem was she was in France at the time with my brother. Maybe she snuck home for my dad!
The interesting one though is my husband who like Warren was told that he was part Native American his whole life and he also turns out not to be

Sorry to hear of your disappointment.

    Moi
Being the product of thousands of years of inbreeding
23AndMe claims I have cousins whose families have not crossed mine.

How was the ancestry part, not the relationships part.

My Mexican American best friend's father claimed his mother was Jewish.
On 23AndMe analysis, father had the lowest "Jewish genome" percent.
But, it served the kids as opposed to the cousins who were not as
    academically achieving.

I asked you this before, and you flopped around for days like a fish out of water.

Cite for me the clause in the Constitution that authorizes the FedGov to discriminate.

    Should be easy, no??

I am against the discrimination suffered by men:

-- Continuous vilification of all men in respectable EAP publications like New York Times
-- 63% longer sentences for the same crime
    -- Presumption of Guilt
-- The fact that male victims of DV are more likely to be arrested then helped
    -- Discrimination in Divorce

As for Affirmative Action -- perhaps it is fair. It helps women and minorities who are really underrepresented at top levels. If it applied also to Aspies and other people with Mental Disability it would be great!
