In the UK for some time, yes. There was the IRA before the Islamic terrorists.

You can look back on terrorism in the 70's because it's over, which is what often make the past so attractive. However Islamic terrorism is not over and there is no sign of it being over. The Islamists will be making that decision.

Yes, the UK had the highest amount of terrorist attacks carried out or foiled in Europe in 2015, the majority were Dissident Republicans!

No, you said "not the Daily Mail", so I asked you to clarify that comment, simply for the purpose of better exposing your irrational bias.

The Daily Mail doesn't do polls. For the benefit of anyone interested, our snakey friend here doesn't like The Mail because it's the UK's most popular newspaper by a mile, and it opposes almost everything he stands for.

Show us a "Daily Mail poll", Snakey, and we can get to the survey afterwards. Or acknowledge you were talking shyte.

I hear they're setting cars ablaze in Paris on a regular basis, You're lucky to know the nice ones.

It depends on who claims what.
If express.co.uk make a claim it's almost always for the toilet. If the Canadian government puts safety and security advice on their official website, it's probably worth checking out.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that there aren't problems. But if common sense tells me I'm a thousand times more likley to die in a car accident than being blown up by a radical Muslim moron, what should I be afraid of?
And being afraid is exactly what radical idiots want us to be. They know that they don't have the means to kill hundreds of thousands or even millions of westerners. There is no way they can win in the long run, so they want the most extreme attention and media coverage they can get to make their attacks look a thousand times bigger than they really are. Why does ISIS only publish videos with western victims being murdered? Because they know that killing a dozen Kurds in front of a camera is just a rat's dropping in our western media. Let's be honest, hardly anybody would care. But when they kill a yank (for example), half the world goes, "ARRRGHH."
    That's what they want.
A moron killed 12 people in Berlin last year. Horrible, and the guy deserved to die (which he probably wanted anyway, because his sick mind told him so), but doctors in Germany kill more people than that through malpractice.
Who or what should I be afraid of?

Worth clearing this up. The poll was conducted by ICM, April - May 2015.

Over half of all Muslims think homosexuality should be illegal.

Two out of five say wives should obey their husbands (Ok boys, just admit you might agree on that one :)).

One in four (oh dear) want Sharia law in the UK.

There were tons of media outlets reporting it at the time - here's one:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-quarter-support-areas-UK-run-sharia-law.html

The paper quotes Trevor Philips, ethnic black African former head of the Equalities Commission, as saying:

Yeah Trev; slam all the stable doors shut now we lost the entire farm, right?

Not only that he is limiting the death total to Europe and leaving out the rest of the world. I guess we dont count. Also when did the IRA attack anywhere but in Britain or Ireland ?

Well yes, it does matter because this thread is titled "Europe is safer.......", plus more people were killed in the Northern Ireland saga upto year 2000 than the total number killed by terrorism in the US since year 2000. But we were not frightened at the height of the terrorist attacks. Every major town had several bomb threats every week - most were hoaxes - the rest would blow up killing and injuring many. We never knew who will be next - but we carried on with our lives and did not treat the Irish any differently to others in our town

What about Paris? The deaths in Paris are included in the conclusion that Europe is safer now than it was in the 1970's

Its more that the IRA no longer is making attacks that makes Britain safer not the fact that you have now to worry about Muslim attacks. You also count the IRA as attacks on Europe. Mark my words when the Muslims are done with Europe you will wish the IRA had taken over

The whole point of this thread is that we were not scared when the IRA were killing us in the thousands at that time. Your predictions are irrelevant. UK is part of Europe (thread title) so of course they count, just as much as the 1000 or so killed by the ETA in Spain

Related to terrorism in Western Europe, they are a big deal; any terrorist group is. However, not as big as other before them.

It's Americans yelping and whining about how fearful they are which gives them undeserved publicity.

If everyone drove 150 mph without any traffic signals there would be more accidents but we take precautions in order to minimize them. Are we living in fear because we do so? Most don't believe so. This rationalization doesn't carry much weight.

The real fear is within the media and political circles. That's why we don't see Mohammed cartoons in the MSM, no Muslim satire, no artists or films depicting or criticizing Muslims the way they do Christians or Jews. You feel safe because the west is caving in to Islamic pressures and, as long as we don't step too far out of line, we will remain safer. But of course the pressures to change western society will continue and we'll slowly come, and inch at aa time, to accept these changes as normal and 'inclusive'.

Is Europe really safe??? If their own police are afraid to mention muslim crime and there's talk of no-go zones then I don't think Europe is a safe as you're trying to pretend it is.

Who can forget the chief of police telling female residents not to go outside alone at night or they will be raped. Yep, nothing to see here folks.

Sorry, you expect me to be scared because of a trend? Sorry but to me you are a classic example of how easily frightened we've become.

"They means business" - In which case, i'd never leave the house. That way you'll know you are safe.

How old are you by the way? Were you alive during the IRA years?

    - - - Updated - - -

I hear Americans like shooting unarmed black people - I'm guessing you are one of the nice ones? ;0)

Like i said, since i was a kid in the late 6o's I've grown up & lived in an area that was very multicultural so i couldn't care less about where in the world people come from.

And yes, things are calmer in europe now then when i was growing up.

There are bad people doing bad things but not as often and not with as many dead people as when i was younger.
