OTOH, there are examples of compelling evidence of Don's guilt in a variety of crimes. You can analyze the evidence and comment on it or dismiss it as you folks usually do. The former is preferred, the latter is expected.

The FEC’s inexplicable punt on Trump’s hush-money payments

The decision is both unsurprising and rather inexplicable.

It’s unsurprising because this is par for the course for the FEC. The bipartisan agency in charge of enforcing campaign finance law has been mired in a state of gridlock for many years, with its key enforcement decisions regularly breaking down along party lines and sometimes without enough members to even function. The decision that was disclosed Thursday pitted two Democrats in favor of moving forward against two Republicans voting against it.

But while this was probably to be expected, just consider what it means. The underlying issue isn’t just some speculation about something that might have happened; it involves a proven crime tied to Trump — both by the criminal and Trump the SDNY.

The key issues when it came to Trump’s culpability were whether he was involved in the payments and whether they were intended to influence the election being held shortly thereafter. Cohen said publicly in 2018 that both things were true and later testified under oath to the same effect.

'Fani Willis was supposed to return to the witness stand today to continue her testimony in the motion to disqualify her and her former boyfriend Nathan Wade from the RICO case against Donald Trump et al. But someone in the Fulton County DA's office just called an audible:'

'The theory behind the DQ motion is that Willis appointed Wade and paid exorbitant fees in order to personally benefit from the funds in the form of gifts and travel. Willis and Wade both admitted that they did not disclose the relationship as required by regulations, and Willis conceded yesterday that she violated the prohibition on receiving gifts as a public official over a cumulative amount of $100.'

'Willis had an explanation for the allegation, however. She testified that she keeps large sums of cash at her house at all times, and that she reimbursed Wade as they went along on the trips from that stash. Defense attorney Ashleigh Merchant pressed her on whether she had bank records for withdrawals for the case, but Willis insisted that the cash didn't come to her through banks.'

'Instead, she explained, she kept thousands of dollars from campaign contributions to one of her electoral campaigns -- an admission of an entirely new reason to disqualify Willis:'

She's paying off her lover with campaign cash. Remind me again, of what Bragg is trying Trump on, even though the Statute of Limitations ran out years ago on the Bragg charges.

'“When I took out a large amount of money on my first campaign, I kept some of the cash of that.'

She used that to pay Wade back for their sex vacations, campaign cash.

'This admission of conversion of campaign funds, especially in cash, could land her in legal trouble of another kind. First off, most states forbid such personal conversions of campaign funds to anything other than another campaign. Does Georgia allow candidates to simply take the cash home and use it' to reimburse their lovers that they have on tax payer payroll?

WAS THE CAMPAIGN CASH SHE CONVERTED TO REIMBURSEMENTS FOR SEX ROMPS, REPORTED AS INCOME, AS REQUIRED BY LAW?

'Second problem: Even if Georgia law allows such personal conversions of campaign cash to personal use, it raises an issue about Willis' income tax status. That cash would have to be reported to the IRS and Georgia's revenue office as income. Did Willis report that cash and pay taxes on it? We also heard about a tax lien on Willis' property that remained unresolved during the period that Willis claimed to be reimbursing Wade through her cash stash (or "hoard," as one of the other defense attorneys put it).'

'The congressman’s update came as an investigator for the president had produced cellphone data showing Willis and Wade’s devices together in her neighborhood overnight on several occasions before the testified beginning of their relationship.'

'Radio host Megyn Kelly commented on the submission to the court, “Stunning that Team Trump got their hands on this in the #FaniWillis case. More evidence that these two prosecutors lied, under oath.
