The lawyer is screwed from a "working for the government" perspective, but given the current reporting, I don't think he will be disbarred, let alone criminally prosecuted.

 

Overnight, more details have emerged that show that the lawyer involved — who has not been named — was far down the chain of command and that the document at issue had no bearing on the final result of the investigation.

1) Even if Mueller did not find criminal versions of collusion, that does not mean that the investigation was a hoax. He was able to fill an entire volume of misdeeds and circumstantial evidence related to Russia' illegal interference in the 2016 election, that the interference was designed to help Donald Trump, and that Trump and numerous other associates encouraged and actively benefited from that interference.
2) One of the reasons that Mueller did not find a criminal version of collusion is because of limitations imposed by the investigation - specifically the use of encrypted communications by members of Russia and the Trump campaign as well as an inability to obtain sworn interviews from key figures both on the Russia side and from Donald Trump personally.
3) The investigation resulted in 100+ indictments against dozens of individuals and corporations, including multiple felony convictions against Donald Trump associates.

Ergo, Not a hoax is any shape or form.

 

Depends on how you define OK.

Is the amount of alteration enough for OK in terms of this particular individual's conduct and whether he will or should face a punishment? No.

Is the amount of alteration enough for OK in terms of whether the FISA application was ultimately justified and legally based? Looks like a yes, based on the current reporting.
