    The reporting could be interpreted as: The lawyer made a mistake. Then, instead of reporting his error, he performed an unethical act, for the purpose of CYA (cover your butt).

    It could also be speculated that there is more to come and that this little bit was dribbled out in order to soften the blow of the full report.

    Interesting CNN was more concerned this will make Trump look good than if true, it would be an existential threat to our democracy having unelected Deep Staters go after political opponents. It's what China does.

    Are they really? Is it really that strange that you haven't seen reporting from individuals who rarely give public statements or make tweets within 12 hours of some vague story about a low level attorney altering some document that was somehow related to the FISA application?

    The original story named the agent the person worked for, Peter Strzok but then was edited out without explanation. That allowed some to identify the person as Kevin Clinesmith who was on the original Clinton investigation known as the Mid-year-Exam or MYE in text messages. Clinesmith was 'lawyer 2' for Strzok who then moved to 'Crossfire Hurricane'. He was allegedly having an affair with Sally Moyer who was responsible for the legal compliance in the FBI counterintelligence operations that granted FISA warrants.

    The IG report appears to be a whitewash of the falsification of records which is not unusual so far for IG reports.

    Conservatives needed something else to help them forget about the fact that Trump is going to be the first President to ever get impeached in his first term. So it might as well be a really vague description of wrongdoing by a low level attorney which didn't affect the ultimate conclusion that the FISA warrant was legal and justified.
