I GUARANTEE you that whichever investigator typed that sentence in had a big smile on their face at the time....

 

See Post #51... you are completely (and I suppose intentionally) mixing up the SDNY memo with the Mueller memo. The SDNY only made their recommendation on how Cohen helped with THEIR investigation, not the Mueller investigation. Mueller said that as far as he was concerned, he'll let the SDNY crimes get punished accordingly and he won't ask for more, as Cohen is helping him.

But DANG nice try!!

The Southern District linked Trump to Cohen’s payments to women who claimed to have had an affair with the President, concluding, “Cohen himself has now admitted, with respect to both payments, he acted in coordination with and at the direction of Individual-1 [Donald Trump].” However, even this implied violation of campaign finance law rings hollow after prosecutors failed to convict ex-Senator John Edwards on a far clearer cut version of this charge in 2012, to say nothing of Trump's long history of similar payouts to women, making it difficult to prove these were campaign-specific and not just business-as-usual at the Trump Organization.

The special counsel’s sentencing memo for Michael Cohen proved even more disappointing for the collusion crowd. Mueller writes,

The defendant recalled that [a Russian national] repeatedly proposed a meeting between Individual 1 [Donald Trump] and the President of Russia. The person told Cohen that such a meeting could have ‘phenomenal’ impact ‘not only in political but in a business dimension as well’…. Cohen, however, did not follow up on this invitation.

In other words, some guy told Cohen that Trump and Putin should meet, and Cohen blew him off. After two years of investigations into Russian “collusion,” is this really all they’ve got?.....snip~

The orders appear to be to pretend the Mueller sentencing memo doesn't exist. If you force it on them they will quote the very small part where Cohen ignored one Russian connection because he was already working with his own Russian connections.

 

Russia related matters is meaningless and is meant to do nothing but throw people like you a bone. Tell me when they say Trump Russia collusion matters.

Makes me wonder if there is some behind the scenes vendetta type of thing going on with the New York chapter of this saga. Lot of money and power changing hands in that state and rarely any of the moves in the game go without somebody in government having eyes on or skin in.

 

It could have been influenced by Trump publicly calling for a full sentencing of Cohen earlier this week. At least that is the case i would be making if i was Cohen's lawyer.

That's probably not a huge stretch... Cohen and Trump have been known to NY Prosecutors for years, whereas they are relatively new to the federal crime scene... But I doubt it's going to affect their sentencing recommendations much... Just a little cherry on the top, getting to jail local talent...

 

I suppose at this point, the only question left is: who should get erased to get Bob on Mt. Rushmore, Teddy or Tommy?
