Why do you think? Women allow (imagine, sometimes women even encourage it) men to do it for the same reason men do it...they WANT to have sex. It is a powerful biological drive. That's the same reason people have always had sex. Fear of pregnancy is not a strong enough deterrent.
I see, so you are saying that women just can't control themselves, they MUST allow a man to ejaculate into them even though they dread pregnancy and even though they have no idea whether the man will stay and help raise the product of their sex-session. In the past, women respected themselves enough to be able to control their urges and make a man prove his worthiness. Now, apparently 'choice' is synonymous with killing a fetus instead of choosing wisely in the first place.
Actually, people are the same as they have always been. Women have always had pregnancies as a result of illicit activity, they just had to go to extreme lengths to hide them. Women have always had abortions to hide those pregnancies. No matter how wisely a woman tries to be when choosing a mate, it is not possible to predict how he will react 20 years down the road. The most careful women have been fooled.
Just as I thought, women are their own worst enemy. They can't control themselves so they blame it on men. You're right, nothing has changed. Believe me, men know all about trying to predict the opposite sex, 20 years down the road a man will probably see thousands of 'changes' in their 'chosen one.'
Women have gotten the blame for centuries for unplanned pregnancies. You're blaming them too.."they can't control themselves." They still are getting the blame, but now they can do something about it safely.
Women have multiple means of preventing pregnancy. They can abstain from sex. They can use any one of the many different and safe birth control options designed for women, such as the pill, the ring, IUDs, the patch, the sponge, barriers, etc. Abortion just allows them to avoid the consequences of foolish decisions or reckless behavior. It takes away any need for responsibility or foresight on the part of the woman.
Women can be responsible and use foresight concerning BC and STILL get pregnant. I suppose abortion does give women the chance to correct a mistake, what's wrong with that? A baby shouldn't be a punishment for a mistake.
I don't refute the woman's right to 'self-sovereign'...but I DO expect her to be responsible. There are thousands of statutes and laws that abridge our right to 'self sovereign'...we can't steal, we can't not pay taxes, we can't yell 'fire' in a crowded theatre, we have to attend school, we have to pay taxes.. Funnily enough, society hasnt' collapsed into tyranny. (I am assuming here that you are fighting with equal vigor the requirement that we use certain lightbulbs and can't use toilets that use more than a spit's worth of water, right? being so sure rules and laws are sooo oppressive and all) but regardless, I won't object or fight to repeal Roe v Wade as long as MY tax money isn't used to pay for it or MY insurance company isn't required to cover it. and young girls aren't given them without their parent's consent.
