Congress seems to be powerless before Trump, yet they represent the public much more than that lone lunatic in the White House does. He should not have that much of a "call." Especially not when he is clearly ignoring facts and evidence to do so. There needs to be a check on this, and I think Congress must have that power, if only they will exercise it.

leftists have sided with illegals, with MS-13, with Iran, with Hamas, and against a peaceful, 21st century relationship with Russia....

all because they have to keep up the now twenty-month old charade that Russia had something to do with their queen's defeat
    .

and they call other people 'regressive'....

Then you're wasting time you could be using for more productive things. Run along now. You're not needed. It's a done deal

THAT is illegal. THAT is cyber warfare. You think there must be provable results for there to be a crime. WRONG. Having proof of hacking is enough. What Russia did was a crime and authorities have Mariia Butina in custody and charged with crimes. So what more do you need?

Trump got Euros to increase NATO spending by billions and called out Germany for sending billions to people the left says is our enemy. On the flip side, obama gave billions to people who chant death to America and no one called him a traitor.

Libs take orders better than anyone.

Actually, part of the Chief Executive is to conduct foreign policy. As far as the Framers were concerned, the Senate was supposed to be limited to approving(or disapproving) treaties, not for the general public to have a diktat on the POTUS's foreign policy agenda. Indeed, pre-Trump how many candidates on both sides have a part of their website that literally says "Foreign Policy" on one of their tabs?

We can and should criticize Trump's poor choice of words. Said poor choice of words make him more suspect than he was, prior to the summit. In that regard, it's a complete failure of a summit. But let's not let Trump be the cause of changes that would fundamentally shape America, like all of a sudden weakening the POTUS position on foreign policy decisions.

Logistically, it's not as though we can import the entire body of Congress for negotiations for example. Even with a poor POTUS, the POTUS position has to be respected.

Impeach Trump? Sure, but don't do damage to the office itself.

But now we have a crisis in the form of a president who obviously doesn't even understand the intelligence that is shared with him. Going by his own words, he does not understand why Russia would want to interfere in our politics. That was his answer when asked about it.

If the only power that Congress has is to remove this walking, talking national security risk, then that is what they need to do, and pronto.

"Damage" is not the most neutral term we could use to describe altering the powers of the president.

And, agreed if he's too vulnerable for the position impeach him. But the last thing I'd like to see is some impractical limitation in that the chief executive officer would now have to base foreign policy off of...the party's platform? Off of a yearly passage of a bill by the Senate on how the executive is to execute foreign policy? Like seriously, how are we going to do this?

I don't know what's wrong with policies being discussed and voted on, obstructionism aside. But then, we should probably also take steps to counter what damage the bipartisan stalemate has been doing to our system and our society.

Excuse me for harping on this point but considering the enormous elephant in the room can’t be seen or smelt by either side of US politics there’s and urgent need to point it out. The powers the US executive branch/president/White House has under the US constitution are so extreme as to make any claim America is a democracy, let alone the land of the brave and the free, utterly absurd. Putin knows this and is very cleverly manipulating Trump accordingly.

But the US constitution gives the White House the power to override Congress in so many areas it’s absurd to claim America is anything like a real democracy.

True but does that justify allowing the executive branch to destroy what’s left of American democracy?

It is astonishing that Trump thinks he can get away with brazen treachery.

Are we witnessing the total demise of Trump and family?
