I don't see it as odd I see is as the irrational reaction by an individual Jew to the entire German states policy of overt persecution of Jews starting with the election of the Nazi regime to power in 1933 under the anti-Semitic policies of the party platform established in the early 1920s, through the Nuremberg Laws, expelling the Jews from all public and economic life through the "Aryanization" legislation, the Sonderkommandos killing squads, the establishment of the original concentration camps starting in 1933, the establishment of Jewish Ghettos beginning in 1939 culminating with extermination camps in 1942 etc etc etc.

 

I am always bemused at the obsession of non-Jews to define who Jews are, as evidenced so much on these PF message boards. (Get a life, People!!!) Though I may agree with much of what you say in your dissertations, I must take issue with your definitions here. Zionism is a POLITICAL movement. Period. The modern Zionist movement traces its impetus to Theodore Herzl in the late 1800s. Zionism is NOT spiritual...or religious. For example, the ultra-Orthodox fanatics of Mea Shearim. These ultra-Orthodox fervidly believe that we will not return to claim Eretz Israel until the coming of the Messiah. To them, unlike to Christians, Jesus Christ may have been a nice Jewish boy, but he was not the Messiah. (But typically, his mother thought he was god....<snork>...) Secular Jews are, by actual definition, not religious! Secular means worldly/temporal as differentiated from religiosity. Period.

Whether secular or religious, Jews really are defined by ethnicity. Cultural Jews. They/we may adhere to the traditions of our antecedents -- which may differ depending on whether the background since the time of the Diaspora is Sephardic or Ashkenazic -- and some may be politically Zionist, or not. And some may be religious Orthodox, or not. But whatever their origins, they share an ethnic identity which so many non-Jews embrace -- not only bagels and lox and corned beef and matzo balls and knishes, but the overwhelming influences on the "American" Broadway Musical theater, the "American" humor of the "borscht belt" comics, the birth and development and great "golden age" of "American" film......

Be that as it may, we can no more be lumped together in a single definition than Christians can. Catholic? Protestant? Methodist? Calvinist? Evangelical? Etc., etc., etc. To us, you're all Christians. But to you there are distinctions. In spite of the rabid rantings of the many unnamed illiterati.

As for the "Palestinian problem", it is often thrown into the dialog mix to divert attention from the main issues. A so-called "red herring". And since a great majority of Jews like herring, this has got to create quite a dilemma of cognitive dissonance for the anti-Semitic neo-Nazis....... unwittingly, they're probably choking on their bagels while reverently singing "God Bless America"

I gave you already one good example and I never claimed that they support them financially. But threatening islam critic authors like the Central Jewish council in Germany did often, trying to bring them into silence is a great support for the Islam population in Europe.

I agree. It's simply not good enough to attempt to entirely disassociate cause and effect however misguided, reactionary and counter-productive these kinds of attacks always turn out to be. So long as Western foreign policy mitigates against justice for the Palestinian people as well as Muslims more generally, I'm sad to say that these kinds of attacks on Jews and others like Lee Rigby will continue to increase unless or until our foreign policy is reversed.

 

To be totally honest, I am amazed there are not attacks on Jews outwith Israel, lots of them, each and every day.

Not that I generally approve of violence, but in the end, sometimes it is ALL you have left, when there is nothing else.

Now, I am not a Muslim or Arab, thus, while I believe the Palestinians (and many Muslim lands), have a righteous objection, I am not going to put my neck on the line for them. They have my moral support, and that is as much as I will give them.

However, see that business in which Jews 'price tag' the homes of the defenceless?

Now, were I a Muslim or Arab, every single time they did that to a brother, I would give the word to do it to 100 homes owned by Jews, outwith Israel.

If they bulldozed one home, I would give the word to destroy the homes of ten Jews, outwith Israel.

Therefore, the fact that Muslims have not done this, shows they must have a great level of patience and are very moderate, esp in relation to their number.

 

They'll continue regardless of Western foreign policy. Muslims have been attacking Jews and Christians since the dawn of Islam.

 

This is a disingenuous argument based on a circular logic.
