Do you think kids don't know about racial differences? Furthermore, kids are colourblind (as counter-intuitive as that reads given my former sentence), so why introduce overweening focus on skin/hair colour? Why hassle kids about it when the majority already don't give a damn? And what business is of schools anyway? That's private life, social stuff.

People fall for a lot of 101 stuff, not just this subject.
But for you to compare the authority of a despot to the authority of the Creator of mankind, that is rather unrelated, imo.
Nor do I see God as a despot when the prime messages are compassion for our fellow man and virtues of kindness, forgiveness, patience and charity.

...although I do agree with a lot of your other posts on this thread.

I'm sorry for you, if you think it's 'extremely abnormal'. You're significantly limited by lack of exposure to alternatives.

I feel bad for modern westerners who are so insulated from the bigger world that they think such things. SO sheltered. They literally have no idea that there are other (and sometimes better) ways. I can't understand why parents don't expose kids to these other options. It seems such a controlling and weird way to parent, to believe that sex, alcohol, drugs etc are unavoidable. You're basically telling your kids those things are compulsory. Horrible.

Yes, model kindness and tolerance by all means. But don't tell kids who they should be kind to.

that's why sex ed is idiotic, and in fact counter-productive. most 13 year olds today know how it works and how babies are made.

kids who get pregnant know how to avoid it, but choose not to. that's a function of very bad parenting, nothing to do with school.

and many would argue that it's still 'cut off at the pass' in conservative societies. the seed is never planted, so any natural inclinations don't develop. there are no seeds to plant, in such societies. the most effeminate men imaginable will still end up married with kids. they may have a vague sense of disquiet, but given such societies don't hold with self-indulgence, they simply dismiss it and go back to work.

talking to 10 year olds about how sex is good.... yeah.... that's really the job of the state, I'm guessing.

unfortunately that's no more convincing than saying "my pie is better than your pie because my pie is nicer". and despot is a figure of speech. gods/politicians/kings, it's all the same when we're talking authority figures.

If you believe that sexuality is a choice, then at what age did you choose your sexuality and why did you pick the sexuality that you did? Please be as specific as you can.

    Well, as you wish.
But I maintain God has manifested His reality in a myriad of ways to where many like me have no doubt. So given that, I do not worry so much about those things He has also taught that I cannot quite understand. If God says that besides we treat others with kindness we should also pray to Him and give Him thanks and praise and obey His commands, do you find that so odd?

Is bi-sexuality a choice, or were we hard-wired to become that way?

I did not choose my sexual inclinations, a man desiring a woman is pretty instinctual as it is in the animal kingdom. I am just saying some who are homosexuals today could just easily been a heterosexual without constant cravings for gayness if that person grew up in a different era with different parenting or different society that frowned more heavily on the idea. He might have found a girl early on that was his content.

In the absence of a scientific conclusion I default to anecdotal evidence on the matter of human sexuality where in my opinion our sexuality is innate rather than taught. This is why I have no problem with kids being taught about homosexuality or even bisexuality.

Yet there are many examples of homosexuality in the animal kingdom. Is it unnatural in the animal kingdom? If so what is the cause of this perversion of nature within the animal kingdom?

While I think he would have had no choice in the matter as our sexuality is innate as opposed to taught or being environmental.

I find the animal example to be of extreme rare variety. Besides, animals to not think like humans do. Man is rational more than animal.

Sexual experience is more along the lines of finding things that gives one pleasure more than it is a “natural instinct” as you describe it. Not unlike we all derive pleasure from different music or activities. Our pleasures change as we grow older. So for a time someone liked girls but then he found men more titillating because sex is pretty bizarre left unbridled. Not unlike someone likes animals or a pedophile or being a masochist. They all take root, but they are not born with those strong desires.

I am not saying there are some ( a few not a majority) who are more inherently scared or repulsed by women and inclined to prefer being with their own kind (once exposed) but for many, not so present. Different circumstances could have left that possibility unrealized, just like other perversions if not exposed to never become an issue. Reiterating – no one is born a bisexual; or, innate as you would put it.

Those powers of attorney have been successfully challenged by blood relatives and many same sex partners have been denied hospital visitation rights prior to the USSC outlawing the arbitrary stipulation to gender in the many and various state marriage statutes. The point being that private contracts do not supercede marriage laws as Dairyair was trying to claim. They are not equivalent. Same for medical powers of attorney. Lifelong partners and adopted children have been successfully frozen out by both medical providers and hospitals and blood relatives.

Absolutely not. I envision a system where consenting adults wishing to conjoin themselves financially could simply download a prepared form - or come up with their own if they so choose - that they simply need to sign and notarize to file away like any other kind of contract. The idea that marriage is a "special kind of contract" simply goes away. How preposterous is it in a nation of free men that we should obtain a "license" to enter into a legally-binding interpersonal relationship of our choosing?

Please explain what you mean by "medical power of attorney is an exception to the basic model." What other exceptions do you claim exist?

Sure there is - as I outlined above. It is wholly unnecessary and constitutes nothing more than a needless layer of bureaucracy and burden to the citizen.

Better to simply revert the institution back to the people and leave government to paving roads, printing money, and defending the land.

I noticed you completely avoided answering the question. You have maintained that homosexuality is a choice. If that is true, then the obverse is also true. So, please tell the board when you chose to be a heterosexual.

I said I did not choose to be heterosexual it was an instinct of human kind, also present in those who end up homosexual.
I did choose not to be a homosexual, however. I also chose not to engage with children or animals or dress like a woman.
Is bisexuality a choice or is it innate?

The fact that homosexuality exists in the animal kingdom tells me that homosexuality is natural within the animal kingdom just as it is natural in humans.

What does rational have to do with sexuality if sexuality is innate? I thought you said that you did not choose your sexual inclinations, so why do you assume that others do?

I disagree as it is our brain which guides our innate sexuality, natural instincts and sense of pleasure. I like oral sex, you know why? Because if feels great! If it felt horrible then I would not like oral sex. Our innate nature decides this for us, not logic.

Which is innately determined absent of our will. You know why I like Thrash Metal? Because it sounds amazing! If I listened to Thrash Metal and was repulsed by it then I would not like it. My brain decides this stuff for me at a subconscious level absent of my will.

    As does our brain.

Why does it need to be bridled in the absence of harm? I argue that homosexuality in and of itself harms no one thus it does not break my moral code thus my support of homosexuality.

Yet those conditions can cause harm. Being gay in and of itself does not.

By the way you have been quite civil and I appreciate that as it is a rarity here in the forums.

The Supreme Court of the US already ruled that same-sex marriage is legal. Most Americans have no problems with same-sex marriage and support continues to grow.

So who are the real deviants here?

You say this in a thread that whines about another reading a book to kids. And I think you fall on the easily offended side on this reading of the book? Does that make you insecure as well?

Oh sure. I think at least 1/2 dozens gods have done that. Even the one the Hebrew tribe based their god on.

Most of them were right about the actual vote but got it wrong about the electoral college outcome. Nice try though.
