It is self evident that if there is anything or anyone in this country that President Trump admires, loves and respects as much as himself and his own family, it is the military, its members and leaders. Of this, there is no doubt. So for anyone to suggest otherwise is to fly like a screaming absurdity, into the face of reason and reality. Nevertheless they have. And the Presidents response to them in defense of himself, was to them, just another challenge to find a tiny flaw or word out of place. A fault to find, which again they have, plotting and splitting hairs, digging their own pit deeper and deeper and deeper, dragging the national conversation with them. In the depths of their darkened pit, our President Trump is now an evil, hurtful, liar. But in the light of reality, he is the President who offered his personal, simple, heart felt condolences to a widow. And the real evil, hurtful, liar, is everyone in that deep, dark, divisive, hair splitting, petty pit ,who says otherwise.

He was correct. 1st many of them couldn't make calls That includes essentially everyone prior to and including FDR. The Telephone simply isn't ubiquitious enough until the 1950's. and as I already pointed out to you long ago in this very thread it is one thing when casualties are three or four a month, it is quite another when normal wastage along the front is 40-50 a day as it often was in WWI and II. Trump has that luxury now and I commend him doing so. As I also pointed out most presidents only called in the case of MOH winners and some times other major awards for gallantry that were awarded posthumously. You are trying to find something evil in a simple statement of fact. By the way had the reporter not asked the question Trump wouldn't have had to respond off the cuff. As far as I can remember the only soldier ever invited by Obama was the traitorous Mr. Bergdahl.

leaks if they have no credibility? Anything that exposes Trump is "fake" news, right?

 

He was simply trying to portray trump as uncaring instead of leaving private matters private. Every president has a different approach. Some are different by reason of circumstance. How many people whose loved ones died on the beaches of Normandy on June 6th 1944 got a visit from FDR or a phone call? Almost none. Not because FDR was necessarily cold and heartless but because a lot of people didn't have phones and there were far too many of them even if they had phones.
