ok.... does that make him better than us because he donates more than we do?

That's the point of the question I was directing at Catholic_whateverhisnameis, who seems to thinks a person's measure of goodness is based on how much he donates.

60k is quite a bit of money, more than I make in a year.... more than a lot of people make in a year.

it's just a shame that I will never be as good as someone that donates more than I make.... /sarcasm

Actually I think that the fact that a citizen donates to any charity organizations at all is good for that particular citizen and great for the nation as a whole. Charity is one of those things that engages 'what goes around comes around' so far as being a good human being is concerned and so giving anything at all is much better than never giving.

As for the wealthy we all know that the average wealthy person gives less in proportion to his or her income than the average -- say -- lower middle class citizen. But to a great extent it just does not matter. If the process of giving actually stings a bit financially but the citizen grits his or her teeth and gives what they can anyway then they've just made themselves into a slightly better person. Any help?

I agree with you 100%.... my point was to show how silly Catholic was by saying "W is better than you because he gives more than you ever will" well no crap he gives more. He has more..... but Obama gives more than Catholic does.... does that make him a better person than Catholic?

I don't think life's value is based on how much you give. If that were the case... a homeless person would be scum of the earth.... and I don't think that's the case.

my argument about this challenge is it's set up for people who never give unless someone is watching. Sure, it helps whatever group gets the donation, but Charlie Sheen isn't some great hero because he dumps a bucket on his head and "OMGBBQSAUSE, THAT'S NOT WATER, IT'S 10000$ IN CASH I'M DONATING!!!!11"

I guess it doesn't count if people don't see you donate it via twitter, huh?

You just told a bald faced lie - do not put words in my mouth. I never W was "better" then anyone.

My point was that people lie about conservatives saying they don't help the poor, when in fact they do more charitable giving than anyone else.
