I agree with Theil on this issue. That said, all the hubbub about free speech is complete BS.

Yes, and Standard Oil was free to control the oil market as it saw fit until its monopoly was broken up by the federal government

    So?

Facebook and other social media platforms are private entities and have no obligation under any regulation to offer unlimited access to all comers.

Your free speech is not abridged. You are speaking freely here. You can all your favorite ex disc jockey, you can write a letter to the editor.

All of these are examples of free speech.

That may be. But until the Congress changes things, they will continue to be.

And since the GOP made sure that social media was not regulated by the FCC, they have no regulation regarding their content at all.

And since they are private, not public entities, they are under no obligation to balance what appears on their services.

If that’s what you’re looking for, a “fairness doctrine” for social media, I would support that, and for other media as well.

No different than if the local utility monopoly refused service to Planned Parenthood on political grounds.

You sound like a democrat party slave owner in 1860

“According to the law slavery is legal, and there is nothing you can do about it!”

I will repeat what I said to To

You sound like a democrat party slave owner in 1860

“According to the law slavery is legal, and there is nothing you can do about it!”

Facebook is not only a monopoly but a public accommodation

I know its tough for lefties to compete on a level playing field

But forbidding opinions you dont like is bad for everyone

They (Google as well) need to become completely apolitical and walk that fine line between censoring hatred and terrorist recruitment (Hate recruiting groups) in order to get as close to free speech as possible. Right now, they are just not accomplishing it and it is mostly because people that work there are not apolitical. They are suffering the same fate that #MSM is. Slowly but surely, they drift left and then just keep moving left as the bar moves.

Facebook, Google and others are suffering from the benefits of a Capitalist society. They are losing sight of how they became a success and with their audience.
