Okay, repubs, let's negotiate. Tell you what, make it 19 weeks and ban after that, but totally legal in all states up to and before that, no ifs ands or buts, and after 19 weeks, exceptions for rape, incest, mom's life in danger, medical emergency, etc.

    Deal?

    https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/13/politics/lindsey-graham-abortion-15-week-ban/index.html

Sen. Lindsey Graham introduced on Tuesday a bill that would ban abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, the most significant proposal by Republicans in Congress to curtail the procedure since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade three months ago.

Senate Democratic candidates immediately tried to link their Republican opponents to Graham's bill, but the South Carolina Republican defended his legislation as a bulwark against late-term abortions.
"I think the Democrats made a huge mistake in introducing legislation in Washington that would basically allow abortion up to the moment of birth," Graham told CNN. "Now we have an alternative to that."

I'm not a Republican, but Graham is an effing idiot, this bill will die quickly as it should.

I've stated 22 weeks, I'd prefer 19. I still support it being a State matter, since no one (of either party) attempted to do anything for 50 years on the subject to secure it.

I prefer a new SCOTUS ruling making it a right in the fashion that RGB wanted it.

Graham knows that the GOP senators, a lot of them, won't sign off on this bill at all for fear of getting irked by the White, Evangelical anti-abortion crowd within the GOP. He also knows the Democrats won't fall for the trap either because it will never pass and Graham can easily blame Democrats, instead of his own party for the lack of passage of the bill.

He was in effect trying to do what Democrats are doing, but failing miserably at it.

When you support more government power, you don't get to choose what they do with it. Enjoy your abortion laws. You earned it.

Imagine if the Republicans had a majority in the Senate, they would most certainly take this up.

"My Body My Choice" remember ! These hypocrites on both sides of fence. They are for "freedom" but only for things they agree with ... on both sides. not realizing that when you allow Gov't to mess with bodily autonomy for forced Vax .. you don't get to choise what the next violation is.

He's introduced the same bill every year for years but I find it hilarious all the blue states that have little to no restrictions are so pissed. Now they want the states to decide lol.

The Supreme Court has already ruled that this is a state issue and historically always was until a federal overstep so I don’t believe any abortion laws at the federal level is constitutional

State abortion laws are just penalty on the poor.
People with means will simply travel outside the state, or country, by taking a "vacation" for abortion.

Which puts us RIGHT BACK to the position that the Court ruled on in the 1960s. That these laws could not be equally enforced
and were basically a waste of time for the rich, and a penalty on the poor. But Republicans seem to LOVE to penalize the
    poor for being poor.

Tell us how New York's state law that is mirrored by many others is a penalty on the poor?

Graham proposes 15-week abortion bill …

First time Graham has done something I was glad to see.

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”.

Every day it’s more apparent tRaitor tRump is a one man crime wave.
And now Graham has taken aim at the republicans foot and shot them in the knee. 8)

    ??

Graham can "blame Democrats" for not passing a bill NOBODY wants??

Best of luck there, LG..... This is a stone cold loser idea from a stone cold loser. And to think, I SERIOUSLY once thought Lindsey was near the top of the GOP septic tank, sanity-wise, in 2017....

I hear his next bill is going to require all Americans to shave their heads daily with broken glass... he might actually get some support for that one...

    I just did.

People with means will simply travel out of state - or the country, to get a well monitored, safe abortion.

Poor people will either be forced to carry a child they don't want, or have medical conditions that make carrying to term problematic, and will have to endure
large medical bills (which will be passed on to the state or bankrupt them), or will search out back alley abortions - just as they did in the early 1900s. Ain't rocket science - we already tried outlawing
abortions once before, so we know EXACTLY what is going to happen.

Nope. Not a federal government issue - leave it to the states.

Reality is that this bill is DOA - Dems will not allow it to go to a floor vote. If it even makes it through committee.
