Gun Activists With Assault Rifles Harass Marine Veteran on Memorial Day

No commentary needed BUT I will. Powerless little men who need to 'feel' in CONTROL have NO SHAME!!!

On Memorial Day this week, a former Marine in Texas named James got a couple calls from friends who'd spotted an unusual gathering in downtown Fort Worth: Roughly a dozen people, mostly men, were hanging out in the middle of the city's cultural district, armed with semi-automatic rifles. James quickly knew what his friends were describing, having recently encountered an open-carry demonstration himself in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. An independent TV commercial producer who sometimes films live events, James headed downtown with his camera to get some footage.

What he saw there struck him as especially provocative. Not only had the open-carry activists come to a typically relaxed, family friendly part of town, they were displaying intimidating firearms just three days after a major gun massacre in Southern California. What he didn't anticipate was that they would soon be pursuing him for several city blocks with cameras of their own, harassing him and later posting the footage online, where they would also level homophobic slurs and violent threats against him.Women who speak out have been the primary target for gun activists, as I detailed in a recent investigation. But now, on a day meant to honor fallen service members

It's why I call it "Gun Fetishism"....it's not about "rights"...it's a RELIGION. The gun is a fetish to their religious beliefs and since we all know how easily the fundamentalist religious are to convince themselves that "God is on their side".....they see no "sin" in doing whatever it takes to "protect" their religion and its "holy items".

I've seen that term several times, I don't if has become apart of the lexicon of the RW gun obsessed community--but IT SHOULD. Perhaps as someone who just because I am someone who doesn't get it. Yes, my father had a stash of guns in a closet, a few were 'fire-able' (a couple were antiques) but he didn't pull 'em out, he never talked about them. Took us shooting a few times.. The most discussion I ever remember about them was when they were stolen during one of our many military moves from a moving van. And he never got amassed a new stash--not before I left home. These GUN nuts appear to be 'clinically' OBSESSIVE. I don't know if this will ever reach a formal 'diagnosis' but it sure seems like an indicator of some MENTAL imbalance to me! And I thought guns were supposed to be fun! Do these guys look like they are having any fun?

Cause they were black? Or they had scary handles? Or they had really big magazines? Or had heat guards?

What classifies a firearm as intimidating?

I watched the video and didn't hear anyone with a gun threatening this guy in any way. All they did was video him as he talked trash about them.

 

If a marine doesn't know what an assault rifle is then he's not a marine.
I also don't understand why he admitted open carry is legal in Texas but feels they crossed the line? WTF is that? Emotions?
Why did he confront them and then claim he's being harassed? A big mother jones fail.

His camera was very big and black with handles all over it. Very intimidating.

The intimidating aspect of assault rifles are that they can kill masses in seconds. When a weapon can do that, it only reasons there would be an intimidating factor to them when they are being brandished in a public place.

 

So...

Like a can of gasoline? Or a bag of fertilizer? Or a car (remember that guy from texas who ran over all those people at the concert)?

Were they pointing them at people? A holstered or slung rifle is not "brandishing". I doubt they were assault rifles, owning those requires purchase before 1986, a background investigation by the ATF, taxes and fees, and you'll pay an outrageous amount for one as there are only 120,000 in civilian hands. Since 1934, only two homicides have been linked to automatic rifles, so I'm not seeing what's so intimidating.

 

The Marine was filming them, too, and talking trash to them. Who was harassing who?

 

That is a weak argument because gas, fertilizer, and cars are designed to be used in ways that are not destructive. Everything can be used to harm others, however, weapons are designed to harm and kill.

I think your information is very outdated. When someone comes into a public venue with a weapon, even if it's holstered or slung over ones shoulder, it makes people nervous because there have been so many mass shootings. People do not know if these people intend harm or what their mental status is. This is intimidating and I wouldn't want my children around people who are carrying weapons around.

 

You don't know that about anybody, or if they're carrying concealed. I guess you don't want your children around police either? People driving like idiots makes me nervous, especially when they're driving with a cell phone in their hand. Do you want your children around those folks? They're much more dangerous.

 

So can a 3,000 lb automobile.

 

Did he think they wouldn't film him too?

 

Do you avoid the police then or are their guns friendly and loving?

 

Did we watch the same video? Seems like the "Marine" doesnt know what an assault rifle is.. Came up to them did nothing but insult them and shove a camera in there faces and even sarcastically said "praise allah"? A Marine that doesnt know anything about weapons and goes around calling people "bullies" and "(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s" and "(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)bags" for open carry?
