    Asian folks would also include Indians, Russians and Israel. Strange how the word Asian only seems to apply to those along the Pacific Rim.

    Oriental is no more or less a descriptor than African.
    I do know that she and our mixed race son have had racist abuse, but not over the word 'Oriental', but simply for the way they look.
    I am sorry to say that from what they tell me, all of the abuse is from people whose skin colour would usually be described as white.
    In our personal experience, if you look 'different' it is white people you have to be the most wary of. Be on your guard as it were.

    If you look at all the people democrats pander to they're all victims of some sort. Blacks, browns, reds, yellows, illegals, women, muslims, etc - all victims, each and everyone of them. That's what democrats what you and them to believe.

    No, that's more of a European thing.

    Americans definitely wouldn't refer to Middle Easterners, Pakistanis, Afghans, etc... as "Asians" like Europeans often do.

    Americans consider "Orientals" such as Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, etc... to be "Asians", but leftist cancel culture, in its never-ending quest to perpetuate and outrage and stoke the fires of racial grievances, has decided that "Oriental" is a racial slur.

    Because they won't be happy until the entire universe is declared a sold mass of racism.

    Racism appears to be a significant problem in the black community. Even blacks understand that fellow blacks are at least as racist as whites while America in general understand that blacks tend to be more racist. Unfortunately many blacks and those on the left make excuses for and justify this racism. The current crew occupying the WH appears to embrace and sometimes even promote this racism.

    Because it's a very uncomfortable thing to discuss. And I actually do feel sorry for them: Imagine being propagated 100 years+ post slavery that 'whitey' is responsible for all of your troubles, and you yourself have nothing to do with said problems. It's hard to understand until you're in the same type of household, with the same discussions. In their mind, they deserve this because they 'had' been wronged(actually, it was their ancestors upon ancestors who truly had been wronged but I digress.)


    But there's not a law that can change that victim mentality, only they themselves can change it and I don't know if they can or want to.
