You missed the point, entirely.

I'm referring to the modern Leftism seen all over the First World. It's the same everywhere .. Progressives are the bourgeoisie.

If you are going to use terms like 'peasants' I can't take you seriously.

Biden is trying real hard to get the Build Back Better bill passed, which will do more for working class and working class families than any legislation passed since, probably LBJ and FDR.

So, I don't know what you are talking about. How about being more specific, for a change? Hmmm?

Would be nice.

It will certainly do more for the poor and working classes - it will do more to ensure they lose ever more strength.

When you look at these ideas .. think about the consequences of them, not the surface gesture. Instead of thinking about the immediate impact (which will be temporary relief, at best), think about the long term impact. Because that's what the designers are thinking about.

'enable breeding' ? 'peasants'?

You are filled with the words commonly used by the classic cynic.

The bill is designed to help working families where both partners work, help them with health care. It's especially helpful for the single working mom, who is not thinking of 'breeding' but thinking of how to get a job and provide child care and not lose a job for want of child care.

In a number of states, the cost for community colleges is, for all intents and purposes, next to nothing. Books and a small semester fee.
What the bill wants to do is make what is true in states like the 20 US states that provide tuition-free community programs for eligible students for all states. These are Arkansas, Boston, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, New York, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Seattle, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington,

In CA, 'tuition free' even if it is not extended to a student, the costs are still nominal, books and a small semester fee.
Well, now, then you go down to the southern states where the majority of the HBCUs are, and tell them to disband because you think they are racist.
I'm sure they will love you for it.
Canada?

There is nothing inconsistent with being a liberal democrat and being affluent.

Being a liberal isn't about promoting poverty, becoming poor, wanting everyone to be poor, it's about giving working class families help in their struggles in life.

While we are at it, it we can take the sting out of poverty, we think that is a good thing.

1) You're not looking at the big picture. Temporary relief does not help - it does the opposite. Removing consequences for bad decisions (eg having kids you can't afford), is an act of 'the devil'. That's someone who WANTS you to fail, make no mistake.

2) Who gives a crap .. it's racist and racism, to have segregated schools and segregated funding.

3) No.

That's right. It's ridiculous to think otherwise.

2) College is expensive, but that will only be a problem for kids who take courses which won't equip them to pay off their loans.
That has been proven for years now to be untrue. There are DOCTORS who are struggling to pay off their education debt. At what point do such people begin to save for retirement?

3) I live in a country with universal public healthcare, and we pretty much all pay the same for our prescription medications.
I doubt it. I really do, given all the statistics and studies and reporting on that issue. And I certainly don't trust you to be forthcoming with that.

Why should just they kick in when they can make ALL the rich pony up. If I were rich my attitude would be " if I'm paying more so are you".

You'd refuse to kick in unless they did? You'll hang on to your mansions and $30,000-a-ticket shindigs until someone else goes first?

Awesome.

So you think the super wealthy should do absolutely nothing, unless and until someone drops the flag and shouts "ok .. NOW" and everyone arrives at the table at the same instant, bearing the same amount of plates?

Well isn't that convenient :)

What is the source of your cynicism?

Give examples.

Thank you.

You know this, how?
this is simplistic thinking, presumptive thinking.
Life is more dynamic, far more complex than the reductio absurdum lens you are looking at it through. All of your answers reveal this lens you see the world through. It's not reality. It's ideological simplisticism.
More simplistic thinking. Sad.

There are more things in heaven and Earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy (I didn't think Shakespeare would mind)
https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/a...-dont-get-historically-black-colleges/597973/
Times have changed, but the HBCUs play an outsize role in cultivating future black professionals and community leaders. Despite constituting only 3 percent of four-year colleges in the country, HBCUs have, for instance, produced 80 percent of the nation’s black judges and 50 percent of its black doctors. Even President Donald Trump, whom very few black Americans view as an ally, understands that these schools deserve federal support. “This nation owes a profound debt of gratitude to its HBCUs,” he told more than 40 leaders from such schools at a conference this week.

in conservative lore, it is the darwinian struggle that makes widows strong and turns young orphans into captains of industry.

You do realize that this means if you want to be poor move to Republican districts, they'll see to it that you stay poor.

Democrats, Republicans, it doesn't matter. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Check out the rise in the gini coefficient during the Obama years.
