Our society, in America. without 10% of the population insisting on killing each other with guns, there would be no discussion about widespread gun violence in the US. end the war on drugs and poverty and that problem goes away. then, you could post 2 law enforcement officers at each school and still save money.

 

So every homicide committed with a gun is done by 10% of the population. Wow. Do you have anything to back that assertion up.

I didnt ask you for an analogy I asked what other constitutional rights you would also be fine with citizens needing to get a "license" for. Your examples didnt fit.. how about this.. we have freedom of religion but because most terrorist attacks are caused by Muslims should Muslims apply for a "License" and go through a full psychological evaluation before getting a licence to practice the Muslim faith? You cool with that?
How about the freedom of the press? maybe a licence for that? and if there is a licence involved you could always take it away.. so when Dems are in office no one in Fox news would have one.. and when Repubs are in then cnn, msnbc, etc all would have there licence pulled.. cool?

 

The press is licensed by the FCC and churches get a business license

 

and gun dealers and manufactures do as well.. we are talking individuals..

Serious question. If the founders could look 250 years into the future and see the advancements of firearms and the killing power of some of these military type weapons that are being made available to the public, do you think they would have wrote the 2nd amendment in the same way?

We should just hire returning veterans, at least they can hit what they aim at and they don’t attempt to escalate situations like LEO’s.

 

Absolutely, they would look at it as a better defense against a tyrannical government, or an invading foreign entity.

The Kentucky long rifle was way ahead of its time for warfare. It was essentially the first sniper rifle, they didn’t ban it even though you could pick and choose targets (great for assasinations) instead of firing in volleys, did they ban it? No.

Did they ban the Puckle Gun? No. (One of the first automatic weapons)

Did they ban cannons? No.
