Hillary Clinton: We came out of the WH "dead broke" and "in debt"

It shows their debts far exceeded their assets. In early 2001 their only source of income was Hillary's Senate salary.

That certainly falls within the description of dead broke in my opinion.

 

How many months did they live in "dead broke", single income family status? Did they collect food stamps like Barack Obama's mother apparently did at some point?

I think what Hillary meant was that they were "poor" in the sense of "not having money" to impress other rich people. Not the type of "poor" that most people consider "poor"... you know, when you cannot feed yourself... or afford shelter, etc..



It's like the word "sex"... some people think sex is getting aroused, touch each other, etc.. Other people think it's something else.. something that is NOT related to having an intern go on her knees and giving the president oral sex... because oral "sex" is not really sex.... get it??? understand????

You're not making much sense.

Fact: when they left the White House, they had a negative net worth, being $8 million in the hole. That's pretty serious.

Were they living in a cardboard box on the street? No. But they certainly weren't rich. Many people in their shoes would have had to declare bankruptcy, leaving their creditors holding the bag.

Luckily for them, they scored a lucrative book deal within months of leaving office. That let them pay off their debt and avoid bankruptcy. Everybody won.

You seem to be criticizing them for this, as if they should have remained $8 million in debt for some unspecified period of time, for reasons that are unclear. Or declared bankruptcy and stiffed their creditors. Or something.

Or else you're trying to parse her words really closely in order to criticize her. Which is stupid.

That's how the right does politics. Rather than propose bills or try to fix problems, they try to destroy leaders. Just ask Obama.

Irrelevant. No one disputes that they were able to make money after they left office by Bill's speeches and book deals. Hillary was explaining why they needed to do that.

 

It's not irrelevant at all when you're trying to paint a picture of two people struggling after they left the White House.

I was not arguing causation. I stated and provided the links demonstrating that they were indeed deeply in debt. If my factually correct response is troublesome, then that is not my concern.

 

I am having dialogue with you and discussing the topic. No one debates them having legal fees. Now what did they have legal fees fighting?

Does it matter anymore? We have O in office now. Unaccomplished and intellectually limited. But he is the guy handing out free stuff. We're importing poverty to keep people like him in power. Hillary has been called some of the worst sort of things, from con artist to unethical. But she too will run on giving people stuff.

 

Dont you know most dead broke people have a million + loan from a friend to purchase a house so they can run for the Senate? Its just a box you check off when you file for unemployment duh!

 

The Clintons are set for life. They're not going to starve or go homeless.

"Dead broke and in debt" is the couple who can't find work, all the while carrying around an impossible load of medical debt.

Hillary is out of touch with the common folk. The left leaning would ensure that the entire world knew if only Hillary had an (R) behind her name.
