I don't understand - aren't full automatics banned in the US?

 

No they are not banned,, but it does require a special license. The problem with the left and those that don't understand guns is that the AR15 and AK47 are both semi auto weapons, not assault rifles. While you can get a Class III license, and pay for a class III weapon, these start at around $5000..

Most people cannot afford that especially when an AR15 will cost you about $650 on average.

 

No one denies the right to self-defense and if they also pull weapons and you have yourself a weapon, then bad luck for the attacker.

But an AK-47? the fully automatic army version or such a castrated version?

The first would be forbidden by US gun law to my knowledge! And if this was the Army version, then I have zero understandings that the person had or is even more or less alloed to have, because military weapons have never to be allowed to civilians without any but and if!

No, I would bet you it is not full auto. It's semi-auto, don't believe everything the media reports, most of them are ignorant of the difference between semi-auto and select fire.

The original AK47 built in the 1940s for the Russian military was. You cannot purchase those a they we're banned from importation by Obama as part of sanctions against Russia. And these were not full auto as well.
I defy you too find a full auto AK 47 for sale...you will find Century Arms, Romanien AK47s and such, but all are semi-auto and usually less than $1000.

 

Imagine if the homeowner had used a screwdriver instead and stabbed the burglars. would it matter if it was a Philips screwdriver or a regular straight tip one.
The homeowner has 2 f**ksticks in his home, is he supposed to go to the gun cabinet, carefully review his options then choose the one most appropriate to the situation or more importantly one that would not upset the liberals too much, and use that?, hell no he would have grabbed the first one that was available and he did, and therefore successfully defended himself and his home.

Actually, the difference is how they are manufactured. The AK-47 has a milled receiver. The AKM has a stamped receiver. AK-47s are slightly heavier and more rugged than AKMs.

Both of the burglars were armed. It's a travesty of justice that the homeowner should have to prove it was justified.

 

I'm pretty sure that the AK that this guy had was a semi-auto. The civilian versions of the AK that can be sold in the U.S. are all semi-auto.

 

I'm 99% certain that the homeowner had a semi-automatic version of the AK.

The families of the burglars have a right to sue. And they usually do.

There are miltary versions and civilian version of the AK47. Just like the AR15 is the civilian version of the M16. The difference is miltary versions are select fire, civilian versions are semi-auto.

You might want to go-to a class III dealer to learn the difference, they will actually have class III weapons for sale.

 

Show me where I decided what firearm is needed. I asked a question and let the person know there are other options as it seemed he was unaware of that.

 

They usually want proof that the killing of their family member was necessary, and if not, they want the killer punished for the death of their family member.

 

The milled reciever is lighter, less metal. I recall that the WWII Sten and "Grease" Guns used stamped receivers. I may be wrong I was wrong once!
