Don't bother pointing these out, though. People who look for reasons why it can't be done will find every excuse in the book to shoot down anything you show them. Because they'd rather be right than happy.

How nice. They can buy an extra gallon of milk, a loaf of bread, and almost a pound of lunch meat with that extra $.30/hr

If one can eat, provide shelter, and warmth that is a livable wage. Oh yes, transportation to said job.

Or just quit smoking and save the $150 they spent last month on cigarettes.

Bottom line is that as long as you are making enough to have shelter, food, and water then you are making a livable wage. Anything above that is a luxury that you don't need. Well and transportation in many cases. Problem is that we judge "livable" by modern standards.

You don't need tv or cell phones or any of that.

Well, that USED to be the standard (or so we were told), but today, it's all about cheap, cheap, cheap. More for less. That kind of corporate thing. I'd be fine with that standard but, unfortunately, that simply isn't true at all.

You played by the supposed rules and got screwed. Fat cat corporate slimeballs could care less. Maybe Mitt Romney's advice of "just borrow more from your parents" is appropriate here?

Now they're on of the higher ups so, with all that extra money, comes more responsibility. 30 cents more and they just went to store manager, and straight to salaried. I'd personally let them stuff their loaf of bread.

Well, if everybody is a rich fat cat, who would do the actual work?

I wish we could pay corporate pigs what we think they're worth. Don't you?

I'll buy that. You can do all that on minimum wage all by yourself? I'd like to see your numbers.

Why don you just stop taxing my cigarettes so I can save $120 a month and still get my cigs? What do I have to pay for now? Children's healthcare and education? What does that have to do with the costs of smoking? Lung Cancer research, or you are all just after some cash IMO. You all love to tax the smoker.

Why is the minimum wage have to be a living wage? Why should we make hiring a person without the skills to earn minimum wage illegal? (You of all people should agree businesses will not pay a person more then they are earning out of charity). You act like people making that wage aren't young and learning job skills so they can get higher pay later on. How long do you think the average minimum wage worker stays at that pay rate? Maybe a long time in the Obama economy, buts lets look at the time in the Bush economy. How long, I want to hear where you are coming from.

How about joining the guards/reserves. Or full time military.
There are always options. You just have to look hard enough.

I think partisan hacks who smoke should pay $20/pack taxes on smokes.

Of course you do. You are greedy and want to take everything not yours. You don't care how many middle class people have to pay for agenda as long as they pay. You don't even need results to take their money, you are too self righteous to bother with that. Just more power to the powerful.

LOL. Way off base. I just hate partisans who think their party is better than the other party. And are to ignorant to know that is not the case.

It is hacks who want all the power.

Sounds great. What was your case against the right though? That they were anarchists? Seems to contradict this statement.

Sorry! Switching between windows on phones leads to confusion. I am an idiot. In another thread I was replying to someone who compared right wing people to terrorists.

But you still want my money and don't want to cough up your own on the smoking issue.

A man alone is easy to pick off. So is an unarmed union. Make friends with the Mafia. A phone call to the CEO in the middle of the night will accomplish wonders.

When the unions made friends with the Democratic Party, they failed to notice that it was being taken over by the children of the rich, such as the Kennedys. Spoiled conceited snobs like that don't belong in a democracy; trusting them to go against the way they were brought up was a foolish mistake. We don't belong in a democracy if we don't see that we must abolish all birth privileges. Then those false-flag Limousine Liberals would never have any power.

I'm taking issue with the point the poster seems to advocate, that being that minimum wage can sustain one. Bush? ROFL!! Well, let's see. Let's review. Invaded a country for no reason at all, turned a surplus into massive debt. The economy tanked in 2004, then tanked again in 2008 to near depression status. I'll stop there. You really vacate any hope for rational discussion when you want to feature the biggest Presidential criminal in modern American history as something good.

That's what you might like to tell yourself. Seems to be a popular line with the wealthy. Nah dude. It's more about corporate greed, the destruction of America by the elite. That kind of thing. But believe whatever floats your boat if you feel the need.
