I Guess I do Want Your Guns

There are tons of people on here that want to confiscate assault rifles.

 

I do I like to collect them..

 

I agree there are times when civil disobedience may become necessary.

But, we're not pre-war Nazi Germany.

And, it sounds like you don't know how civil disobedience works, so let me give you a starter lesson:

The law ABSOLUTELY still applies.

 

That is absolutely ridiculous.

Those who are shooting people are having no problem that anyone at a gun range would complain about. They're getting the safety off. They use weapons they hardly have to aim. They kill the people they want to kill.

They don't need that kind of help.

 

Teaching kids gun safety is 'ridiculous'? Seriously? You just want them to be ignorant? I bet that will help...

 

I used to think a lot like you. Anarchists must be nuts! That changed one afternoon as I sat on my porch having a beer. I saw a neighbor driving home from work, then looked around and realized that there were no cops. In fact, there hasn't been a need for a cop or inspector or ranger at all. The government wasn't necessary at all.

The difference for you is, perhaps, you feel that you need a government. I certainly wouldn't want you to do without the things that you need, just so long as you don't tell me what I need.

As for people owning nukes, I'm not sure there is a law against it, and if there is, it's a lot like a law against suicide. Not much your government can do if somebody does build one in their shed.

 

I guess he can try buying if people want to sell. I didn't know he was that rich.

But really, this idea that he has the right to define valid civilian purpose is laughable. He will just have to learn how to live with his neighbors having guns because there's nothing anybody can do about it.

I know what you're thinking. You're sitting there thinking that he'll pass some law that will force people to sell their guns to the government. Let me just explain that the last thing cops want to do is to go to some guy's house who they know has a gun and start demanding that he give it up.

As Granny once said "I've got half a pound of buckshot I'll give you. Where do you want it?"

 

No. AR15s (and similar) are used in less than 2% of shootings. The gun violence that the confiscations of those weapons Beto is calling for would lead to an unprecedented amount of violence between citizens and the state. Likely, chemical propellants will be long forgotten and we'll be arguing about whether to ban laser or plasma weapons long before we see any returns on the shootings committed via citizens with assault rifles and the shootings committed by the govt with assault rifles trying to force citizens to give up their assault rifles. What Beto is calling for is thousands of Waco's and Ruby Ridge's across the nation.

The fact that those advocating similarly to Beto either want this result or don't care isn't lost on those of us who are the inevitable target of it...

Attempted 'Assault rifle' confiscation in the US will drastically escalate gun violence for decades, not end it.

 

he wants ar-15's off the street, you can keep your guns unless you own a ar-15 - course he won't win, so you have nothing to worry about anyways

I have to say though, I know many gun owners, not a one owns a ar-15

the government is more likely to go after e-cigs than guns... cigarette makers probably paying them to do that as e-cigs cut into their sales

All the Democrats want to take things from you via government force: your earnings, your property, your ability to choose the education your children receive, and yes – your guns. Beto, however, loves force extra hard! So hard, in fact, that he proudly said so in an effort to pander to the gun-grabbing left during the last debate.

That’s right, boys and girls, he actually admitted it, while the hardcore progs in the audience cheered him on.

Gun control was never a winning issue for the left. The Democrats have always pretended that no one is out to take our guns.

Beto is an unoriginal, boring dolt who glommed onto Swalwell’s “give up your guns, or the government will nuke you” platform and ran with it like a demented, flailing wildebeest.

 

Nobody is saying that ALL democrats want to take our guns. There are enough that do to be considered a problem.

The biggest problem with this "just one candidate" said it thing is that the courtesy is never returned. Like how just one guy shot up a particular school on tuesday, so let's take everybody's guns so that nobody can shoot up schools no matter what day of the week!

Why? Because I have seen, up close and personal, what a high powered weapon can do to a face.

Hunting rifles are far more high powered than most assault rifles.

There are 4 fundamentals to shooting. Sight alignment/sight picture, trigger squeeze, breathing, and proper body position. You can get away without good body position and breathing if you are shooting in close quarters, but sight alignment/sight picture and proper trigger squeeze are critical. If you are just firing that weapon as fast as you can, you are tanking that barrel around. Even slight barrel deviations transform into big misses over even a relatively short distance. Also if you are firing fast you are not taking time to line the sights back up properly, meaning you will miss even more. Throw in the huge amount of adrenaline you would have in this situation and you are not going to hit the broad side of a barn if you are shooting quickly. It takes lots and lots of training to stay accurate in such high stress situations, and that accuracy will come by staying in control and not firing as fast as you can. Slow deliberate firing is how you get the most hits.

Of course there is a reaction. Doesn’t mean I’m going to strip people of their rights. Nor does it mean that I am going to throw away the means to defend myself or my family. And I sure as hell am not going to lose any sleep over killing someone who meant me and my family harm.
