I just sent an e-mail off to the KC Chiefs--others should do the same for their local team

Sitting for a song is hardly the most strident expression of a social conscience.

It's always healthy for a democracy to see an individual's freedom to peacefully register a moral conviction peacefully.

Yeah, we should just write and complain to the advertisers so they drop ads and revenue. That's what the dems do.

    Next dumb question.

    And?

The behavior is not prohibited by any NFL rule and, oh by the way, any such rule would need to be cleared by the NFLPA as we,,

    So...your point is??????

So it's a first amendment issue when a service provider shuts down a web site but not when you try to shut down a football player's right to speak?

    How very "conservative" of you.

Still, you fail to respond to the point that you support some people expressing their opinion and not others. The difference is not the expression, it is the opinion.

Yes. Do you understand the word "systemic"?

No? Sorry, not here to educate you.

So you've never encountered a dress code? You have never heard of a contract containing an ethical commitment clause? Can you really be this ignorant?

In other threads I have pointed out that one of my very best friends is a black guy that I worked with. I assume this will come as a surprise to you. There is almost nothing that Jim and I dont talk about. And I did ask him if he had ever been pulled over for "nothing" because he was "driving black", he said no.

Whether you stand or kneel you express an opinion.

You do not oppose those who stand because you like their opinion.

You oppose those who kneel because you do not like their opinion.

The difference is purely in your opinion not in the actions of the players.

The company that I worked for demanded that I wear a white shirt, tie, and a conservative suit. They had the job, I wanted the job, they had the money, I needed the money, therefore I wore a white shirt, tie, and conservative suit. Simple as that!!!!!

What NFL rule are these players violating?
What NFL dress code violation are these players committing?

Please, be specific. The NFLPA agreement and rulebook are publicly available to you, please cite met the specific clause of their contract or the rules being violated.

Now we both know you can't do that because they are not violating any rules or agreements.

S, given that your response is completely without value would you care to address that "ignorant" question one more time?

And of course Colin Kaepernick is the first to scream racism when teams don't express an interest in hiring a backup quarterback who's more concerned about directing attention to themselves rather than anything involving the team. You want to express your political views at work? Be my guest. But don't come crying to me when your employer decides you might not be the employee they're looking for.

I was addressing your comment about "the world around you". I'll remind everyone what you said:
You were being snarky, and your comment was out of line. If a person wears a Trump hat or a campaign button to work, their employer has the right to ask them to remove it. You know that, and I know that. If you choose not to recognize the value of my comment, so be it.

If the personal conduct of your sports heroes upset you in any way, that is an entirely reasonable method of registering your disapprobation, of course.

It's not irrelevant if you lose viewers, viewership sets revenue flow and when many people have tuned out because of not standing it becomes more relevant than ever. http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/new...test-reaction-effect/95jdoch1ngj103xvbkllcbvk

Why keep up with this freedom of speech nonsense? There is no freedom of speech issue at stake.

The fans are paying customers. They have every right to demand that the product be acceptable to them.

You must be ashamed that dems do it too. You purposely left that off my post.

Here's another reality check for you. ESPN's revenue fall is hurting their parent company Disney as Disney's stock shares fall another 5-percent on Friday.

You'd better check your 401k or mutual funds, I bet Disney is one of the shares listed as part of those funds.

Do I have to justify exercising my free speech to you?

As a liberal you of all people should know the consequences of free speech. Here, let me show you how the left responds to it:

Jimmy the Greek fired for giving his opinion on why black athletes are superior
Al Campanis lost his job for giving his opinion on why blacks don't go into coaching
Google engineer fired for giving his opinion on diversity
There's a segment of the left who want to charge people with a crime for denying global warming

And the most egregious of all

Attorney General Lynch wanted to prosecute people who say mean things about Muslims.

The first four are the result of someone expressing their free speech and the public reaction to it. The last one is the government shutting down free speech which is exactly what the 1st protects. Your AG was shutting down free speech.

As a democrat, go borrow a klan outfit from one of your friends and stand in front of the place where you work and see what happens. Yeah, you'll have every right to do it, but i doubt your employer will approve.
