I told you so: Gay students want Catholic priest fired for being Catholic

Yesterday, I started a thread on the topic of where same sex marriage will lead -- the stomping out of anyone who opposes it through fear and coercion.

And now its happening to a Catholic priest who teaches the Catholic faith -- that homosexual relations are sinful.

And this is only the beginning.

If the Catholic Church can be forced to purchase birth control and abortifacients, then there is nothing the government can't force the Catholic Church to do -- including same sex marriage.

So they will have to start putting priests and bishops in prison, as they do in China where Catholicism is outlawed.

 

Standing for anything but filth enrages both liberals and the brainwashed. Stand alone or you don't stand.If a person is called a liar and it is not true,they don't like it, but if the accused is in the business of deceit they will be no less than enraged.

 

So you oppose the free speech rights of these two students?

They have the right to say what they say- and so does the priest.

Who will be putting priests and bishops in prison exactly?

 

The priest has a First Amendment right to preach whatever he pleases. This case will go nowhere.

 

I agree, as long as he does not discriminate against students in his class based on race or sex, ect.. he can do whatever he wants

 

The Catholic priest is not a professor, he is the chaplain of the Newman Club, which is a student club for Catholics.

 

I am confused, why does this public university need a chapel? sounds like he is preaching discrimination and if that is the case, he should probably look for a job at a religious school that supports that kinda thing

sounds like maybe the title should be Catholic students upset with Christian preacher preaching discrimination on school grounds

yep, from the other link, 11 Catholic students in that club are not happy with the discriminatory actions of the priest on public school grounds

 

The Catholic Church is not a democracy. Never was. Never will be.

 

and when Preaching off public school property he can preach however he wants... but when the school invites him onto their property, he has rules he has to follow, ie, no discrimination of the students, if he choose to violate those rules, then obviously he would be removed.. remember this did not happen at a Catholic Church, this happened at a public school

There are a lot of preists who SHOULD be in prison. The Catholic Church, as an organization, took part in the protection and relocation of pedophiles and rapists. They should be charged as a criminal organization under RICO, and every single employee and official of the Church who can be proven to have had prior knowledge of these crimes should be charged with obstruction of justice, aiding and abetting, and a number of other crimes.

 

It is highly unlikely that there is a "chapel" on the school grounds. The Newman Center is a voluntary student association. It is no different than the fencing club or the Latino Student Union. Almost every large public campus has one. Like every other student association, it is not an official office of the university, but it is funded in part by the student activity fee that is assessed to each student along with tuition.

It's not that they are upset. It's that they're trying to have him fired... which would constitute a violation of his First Amendment rights.

 

Sorry, I'm gonna have to call you out on this one. Catholicism is not outlawed in China. You are mistaken.

The First Amendment applies to college campuses as well. It has not been repealed... at least not yet.

 

it's on school grounds and they get 10k a year from the school to run it

he doesn't teach there, he is just a preacher that the school invited to talk to students in the school chapel

Okay, so I looked up this 'Newman Centre' and low and behold, its a Catholic centre thing. Comes up first link on google.

So. You might be gay, but you don't have to listen to an anti gay priest, and you don't have to read his blog, either. If you don't like his views, don't pay attention to them.

That's my advice to the two gay kids, anyway.

Are these students forced to attend the church to hear this man speak? Is it a compulsory thing?

Just wondering. If it is, then its wrong to force a gay student to listen to a person who hates you and doesn't understand you, but if its not, then they can just ignore him.
