As a foreigner viewing this thread I got to ask, are there really that many beggars of any race on your streets? Prunepicker regardless of the colour of a man's skin I would be astonished to be asked for money on the street but then I live in the UK where no one ever needs to beg. I am quite proud of that.

There are many beggars on the streets of UK cities, perhaps they are not so "in your face" as their American counterparts .. but they are certainly there. The problem with the OP here is that, despite claiming an abhorrence of racism, the author underlines what racism is by distinguishing between the skin colours of the persons mentioned, and uses the standard of the "black" man being the one doing the begging, thus re-enforcing the stereotype.
