I think that most agree on the basic premise of what has to be done -- curtajl the influx of illegal immigrants, deter potential illegals, and deal with the ones here on an individual level. (If the IRS can sift through hundreds of millions of tax payers, then how hard could it be to set up an institution with the ability to investigate several million illegals?) The disagreement, in my opinion, is how to go about doing this. On a related note. . . Can somebody explain to me how offering illegals free college/citizenship is a good idea? If Johnny Q. Jose wants his little hijo to have a college education, all he has to do is sneak him across the border? Honestly -- how many illegals are going to choose military service over a free education?
I know that a study released by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) estimates that illegal immigration now costs federal and local taxpayers $113 billion a year. This is huge!
