There is ZERO CHANCE that Russia would ever launch a military attack upon Saudi Arabia.

There is something known as the CARTER DOCTRINE that states that any attack upon Saudi Arabia is considered a direct attack upon the National Security Interests of the United States and any attacking force would be immediately destroyed by the U.S. Military.

The U.S. Military already has thousands of M1A1 and M1A2 Abram's Tanks propositioned in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia as well as a total of 6000 Abram's Tanks propositioned in the Middle East and Europe.

Never mind the incredibly powerful U.S. Air Force which can strike anywhere....anytime....as well as multiple USN. Nuclear Carrier Strike Groups.

Any nation attacking Saudi Arabia would soon find it's attacking force obliterated.

Now it's close to zero, but after a while it may be different. At least now Russian airforce become much closer to Saudis. Looks like they're unhappy because of that, isn't it?

I think you must check out wether this doctrine is valid for now or maybe it's not. Because then it's not clear why Yemen is still not "immediately destroyed by the U.S. Military". Yemenis have already captured one and half southern Saudi provinces.

The issue with Yemen is too small an issue for any U.S. Military involvement.

    It would be overkill.

Besides the United States has surpassed Russia as the worlds largest producer of Oil as well as Natural Gas and Coal.

Within 12 months the U.S. will surpass Qatar to become the worlds largest EXPORTER of Natural Gas and within 4 to 7 years the U.S. will become the worlds largest EXPORTER of Oil and the U.S. is already the worlds largest exporter of Coal.

North America holds more Oil, Coal and Natural Gas than any nation on the planet and the U.S. has more Coal and Oil than every nation on the planet put together.

Ok, but then the Carter Doctrine loses meaning as the United States doesn't need the Saudi oil any more. The national interest of the USA in Saudi Arabia was always only oil. If they don't need that... Saudis may have an impression that the Carter Doctrine doesn't work. And not only impression but factual confirmation - Yemen. Yemenis are acting with impunity, nobody in USA is going to save the King and his bunch of old marasmic princes. I think Saudis are in big doubts now.

Saudi Arabia will no longer mean much to the U.S. as far as oil but it means a lot for our allies.

As well it means a great deal strategically.

Putin made the mistake of getting into a P!$$!NG contest with the United States....and the big loser was the Russian economy.

Since it's in our interest for Russia to have a viable economy we will help....but we will want a few things.

Short term pain for a lot of long term gain. With all the soon to be US oil and gas exports the US could end up being a commodities driven export economy just like Russia used to be.
Like some of those cool looking SU-34 long range fighter bombers. (F-111 replacements?)

Russia knows the U.S. Military would never allow Russia to attack Saudi Arabia.

    Putin knows this as well.

    They are not exactly likable.

But they supply Europe with oil.

Until the United States oil production exists at a level where we would be supplying Europe with it's oil needs....we have to protect Saudi Arabia.

The U.S. Economy is simply too large to become a commodities driven export economy.

Plus the U.S. is the worlds largest consumer nation so we will always import more than we export.

I think we are all set as far as Bombers. LOL!!

The world may swirl around in a microcosm but things in the U.S. are very stable.

Over the years when things were going to hell in a handbag all over the world....the U.S. had remained untouched until 9/11.

You can't always buy more than you sell, the bank will eventually call in the loan.

Because of what is known as the Carter Doctrine.

Any attempt to attack Saudi Arabia is considered to be a direct attack upon the National Security Interests of the United States.

We have massive amounts of U.S. Military weapons systems stockpiled in the Middle East for this possibility and we would win any such war as long as nukes are not involved because no one wins with nukes being used.
