Am I out of the loop or are we not at war with Iran yet?

    ...just for the record.

Yeah I agree, Politically, militarily, and economically there is no substantial reason why we should go to war with Iran. We are on trade war with China there are still a lot of things to do with the trading exchange, The upcoming presidential elections and Trump's impeachment trial, and the weaning support of the Iraq government of the US presence and isis. It's better not to escalate.

He was still not sure though when he made that statement, it's coming from the POTUS himself, so do I have to be skeptical with the words he would say next time?

It's a rock and a hard place for sure. I don't mean to sound sympathetic to Trump or any U.S. president but that is the position they all find themselves in ..... pretending to be powerful for the benefit of the voters but actually following the script written by someone else.

All of this talk about "war" - waging "war" - declaring "war". What is the definition of "war" these days?

There was a lot of fuss about Japan attacking the U.S. fleet at Pearl Harbour without declaring "war" but Hawaii wasn't U.S. soil anyway. OK, so "war" was subsequently declared and we understood it.

But then 1954 the U.S. orchestrated a political coup in Iran without declaring "war" ... and never did. The U.S. did the same in Cuba, no declaration of "war". Again the U.S. invaded and occupied Vietnam in what was a war without declaring "war". So, what now?

Exactly, This attack has unified Iranian people around the flag so much that they even dismissed the fact that it's the same governmet that literally butchered them a month ago. But here's the thing, It wasn't a stupid move on trump's part . He actually wanted that . Why do you think he threatened the cultural sites. Because he knows that it's the one thing that all iranians hate the most threatening their nationality which they are so proud of.

I'm telling you this whole Iran and USA drama is just a sham play. US is actually helping ayatollahs . Ayatollah is the best thing for US to be in power of Iran.

Certainly you will disregard it. The issue is Trump, not war crimes.
War crimes are no big deal, otherwise the Left would be raging in
the streets for the ones which go around the world every day.

And Hitler was loved by the people—says more about the masses being asses than the character, intelligence, and goodness of a human butchering tyrant and his nation’s vile tyranny.

Sorry, Sth Vietnam was an ally of the US.
There was no "war" but insurgency, backed by
the Soviet Union and Maoist China.
You failed also to mention Cambodia and Laos.
    Thailand was under pressure too.

This is correct. And Iran will accelerate their development of nukes. Which is why this execution was pointless, though wonderful.

If Trump were truly the brilliant and heroic leader he pretends himself to be, he wouldn’t have stopped with Soleimani, he would have taken out The Supreme Leader and his Assembly of Experts. His major weaknesses are—too small of an ego, and too much of a pragmatist. This led him to “go home” instead of “go big”

Been said often enough - the Middle East has oil and religion.
And tomorrow there will be no more oil.

The terrifying thing is that normal deterrence doesn't work in
the mind of the religious fanatic.

Iran fires missiles at Americans in Iraq

Actually they fired them at an empty air base. They warned the U.S. the missiles were coming so nobody would get hurt. It is a lot of work for the media to stop guessing and avoid fake news.

Iran didn't warn the US. It gave advance notice to the Iraqis, who passed the information to the Americans. The base, however, was not evacuated, although the troops were taken to safer locations to avoid casualties. The base, which housed the drone used to assassinate General Soleimani, and which was the same base that Trump had said Iraqis must pay for its renovation, sustained major damage including to its headquarters, many of the hangers for its helicopters and other equipment.

Even with the US forces having enough time to basically take some cover and avoid serious injury, the claim that none of them were injured isn't a foregone conclusion. There are reports from Iraqi sources and others that some injured American soldiers were indeed evacuated by helicopter and transported by C-130 aircraft to Israel.

That's an old story. Did Iran fire some more missiles today or something, up the ante, move toward war?

    I would guess probably not.

    @Eadora
I have to add, though, that this channel looks an awful lot like Russian propaganda. Can't take anything they say without a healthy dose of sodium chloride. In fact, despite its current name of South Front, you can see from the URL that the original username of the account is "Crimean Front."

    https://www.youtube.com/user/crimeanfront/videos?view=0&sort=da&flow=grid

I expect this is why they rely on that stupid computer voice to narrate everything as well. They couldn't do it themselves without betraying their nationality. I wonder how they get everything translated into English.

Thanks but pretty much ignore what Iranian propagandists and the Iranian government say. It means nothing to me.

We can only speculate on an evac, but it is plausable. Unless they forewarned which buildings were targeted, an evacuation would have ensured no deaths or injuries as opposed to guessing what they would hit. We would have also detected the launch aside from getting direct notice, might have just been a short evac when they knew they were coming for sure.
