I like Iranians and particularly the Iranians I have met in the West. .. and I would be sympathetic to their views. But, I also think the deck is stacked against the Mullahs.

The most dangerous element IMO is the Republican Guard..

The sanctions are punishing.. and oil revenues are critical.. Worse, Iran has to get $117 a barrel to make their ends meet.

    Something has to give.

Nobody in the region wants nuclear weapons.. They have called for a nuke free Middle East for five decades.

If Iran gets nuclear weapons, Saudi Arabia will be forced to do so.. and what a stupid waste of money.

Global corps are interested in the bottom line. Our best interest dont always equate to the bottom line. I'm not for backing tyrants to help someone make a profit...

ALL business is interested in profits. It is the benevolent self-interest of businesses that allows ua ALL to profit=how free Market works.

The overwhelming majority of Americans work at SMALL BUSINESSES..but ALL businesses are interwoven in our society.

A rising tide lifts ALL ships, botjh big and small...

The Sepah won't give, so the people will suffer - particularly the people who haven't sold their allegiance to the regime.

What we'll see is a situation that increasingly resembles that of North Korea. The regime will take care of its own and the rest of the people will be left to starve to death, if it comes down to it. As conditions deteriorate, one can expect the regime to become more oppressive internally and more aggressive externally.

It's the consequences of an illegitimate, terrorist regime that realizes its survival is under threat.

Apparently you are a gubmint ti**ty sucker then.

The employees rely on them for their job, their work puts gas at your local gas station to run your car to get you to work (hopefully you are employed), etc on down the line. The plastics that compose parts of the computer you are typing on may very well have come from Exxon petroleum, etc, etc, et al.

It is clear your understanding of economics is sophomoric at best.

It is common sense but our current CIC might just apologize for having our bases in the way. I haven't seen much of a back bone so far and Iran has made it clear they plan to try and destroy us.

I'm sure Obama has already made preparations to take weapons away from those bases. Can't have our troops defending themselves now can we?

Small Business has a vested interest in the local community. A Global Corp doesnt give a (*)(*)(*)(*) they do whatever it takes to make a buck and if that means closing factories and moving over seas so be it. And if that means lobbying to go to war then so be it as well.. There is a HUGE difference.

So what if Iran gets nukes? Does anyone anywhere think they won't be held accountable for them? No nuclear nation would support them EVER again if they used them, the political cost would be way too high, which would then translate to an economic cost which would cripple any supporters. Its rhetoric of epic proportions. The use of nuclear weapons in the modern world is simply not viable. When the world consisted of a bi-polar power structure destruction was assured, not the case now, use of nukes will only end the initiator, every nuclear nation has an interest in that. The concept that if Iran gets a nuke they'd give it to Hamas or anyone else is actually ludicris. Everyone would know where it came from, since it hasn't happened in over a decade of the newest nuclear nations... We need to be careful here, another war in the ME is in nobody's interest, well maybe only one country can find advantage, nobody else will... The whole argument is based upon fear mongering, not realistic outcomes...

I've worked since i was 12 years old starting with paper routes and raking leaves etc etc etc.. Take your welfare implications and shove them right up your ass. Exxon does what is in ITS best interest not the nations so using "national interests" excuse to back Tyrants is bull(*)(*)(*)(*) specially when all you do is get that counties people to despise you. All in the name of profit.

What's the problem with corporations seeking profit? There really is a difference between what they do and what nation states must do. Its totally different games, while they may be in bed most of the time, the government, even as corrupt as it is now, still has their own agenda...

The interests of nation states is always within the scope of the nation state in question. Sometimes backing tyrants helps, sometimes not, fact remains, wherever it may happen, isn't the nation state that supports it or opposes it. The power structure of the world is wholly selfish. There are no allies, there are no friends, everyone is an enemy or potential enemy, everyone just uses each other for as long as they can or are forced to. Its stable enough now, so we likely won't see it all fall to (*)(*)(*)(*), but it will...
